AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1-47 (Zeb Wells / Romita Jr, McGuinness, Gleason)

Ça a failli arriver au moment de la version alternative d’One More Day (celle que préférait Straczynski, qui aurait altéré plus de 35 ans de continuité jusqu’à 1971, en lui permettant d’effacer son Sins Past).

Tom Brevoort (The Spider-Man Manifesto, 2006) :

Where We Start

« Just to set the stage, so that everybody knows where we’ll be after the JMS run Amazing wraps up in july, here are the cliffs notes : in order to save the life of Aunt May, who was struck down by a bullet intended for Mary Jane, Peter and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto. But the cost is their marriage. Using his demonic abilities, Mephisto « uncreates » the marriage, and all of the events associated with it – so all of those Spider-Man adventures of the last twenty years still happened, but they happened somewhat differently. So not only Peter and MJ are not married, they have never been married. Spider-Man’s secret identity is a secret once again. And formerly dead characters such as Harry Osborn and possibly Gwen Stacy are alive again and back on the canvas. Some of the particulars are still open to change (and are discussed in more detail later), but this is the landscape when we set up shop. »

Issue to Resolve :

"For a while now, there’s been talk about resurrecting Gwen as a component of the end of « One More Day ». I think the problem with doing this is twofold : A) it robs the character of one of the essential tragedies that defines his character, and B) it locks you onto the treadmill of 1968 – if Peter’s not going to go back to dating Gwen, then what’s the point of bringing her back ? And if he is going to go back to dating Gwen, doesn’t that bring us back to 1968 again ?

The only thing I can think of to do with Gwen that’s different and yet makes sense with the setup (since it’s the deal with Mephisto that’s bringing her back to life) would be to have her be a spoiler – have her be a character whose sole purpose in life was to screw Peter’s life up. She’d be his personal demon, in a sense. The problem is that this only really works if you understand that she’s been resurrected by Mephisto, and supernatural elements like this are and awkward fit in the Spidey milieu, at least on a consistent basis.

Speaking for myself, I think it’s probably a mistake to bring her back ; good for the shock of the moment, but detrimental in the long run."

Une blonde liée à Méphisto, ça me rappelle quelque chose…

Quoi donc ?

Tu as apprécié le run ?

Gorr? Le lien avec boomerang
Mzis c est parfois long… et certains premiers arcs moyens
Mais c est un bon run

Ouais, alors l’histoire de l’âme soeur, ça plombe le run quand même.
