En attendant la sortie du deuxième volet d’Avatar en décembre 2016, les lecteurs découvriront plus en détail l’univers imaginé par James Cameron sous la forme d’un comic-book puisque le réalisateur et la maison d’édition Dark Horse viennent de signer un contrat de dix ans sur l’exploitation de la franchise.
Aucune date de sortie ni aucune équipe créative n’ont été annoncées pour le moment.
Trois ans après cette annonce (et la publication d’une histoire à l’occasion du Free Comic Book Day 2017), Dark Horse a officialisé son premier titre Avatar.
Scénarisée par Sherri L. Smith (Lucy the Giant) et dessinée par Jan Duursema (Star Wars : Legacy), la mini-série en 6 épisodes Avatar : Tsu’Tey’s Path, qui se déroulera pendant les événements du premier long métrage de James Cameron, débutera en janvier 2019.
