Batman is going to jump through time to fight all Batmen who replace him
Dan Mora may no longer be DC exclusive, but he isn’t done with DC -as he’s signed on to draw an awesome-sounding Batman series debuting this fall called Knightfight. In the series, Batman will be jumping through alternate futures and fighting all the various Robins who end up becoming Batman, the way Dick Grayson has done in the main DCU.
« One of Batman’s biggest fears is, what will happen to his children?, » says Williamson. It’s Batman up against the Robins… but the versions of those Robins IF they became Batman. « It’s Batman/Jason Todd, Batman/Damian, Batman/Dick. »

Je kiffe. J’avoue que je suis « sensible » aux récits alternatifs et aux bagarres, et DC K.O. semble bien parti pour me plaire pleinement, avec ici ce premier tie-in simple mais maîtrisé. Ainsi, Joshua Williamson se lance après un mini-segment où Bruce évoque son âge mais aussi sa fierté de voir « ses fils » réussir et correspondre à des aspects de lui-même (Dick en leader meilleur que lui, Jason en rebelle qui assume sa violence, Tim en détective meilleur que lui, Damian qui ouvre plus son coeur que lui). Si Batman semble blessé mortellement dans DC K.O. #1, son corps est figé dans The Heart of Apokolips mais il avait prévu un téléporteur pour se ramener à Gotham. Mais il arrive dans une Gotham changée, avec un autre costume, plein de Robins l’attaquent… car Dick l’a remplacé en Batman, a créé une Bat Tower et ce Dick âgé veut le forcer à la retraite, alors que Bruce semble avoir tué ses autres fils.
J’aime bien, oui. Le scénario gère bien la voix-off humaine de Bruce, je suis surpris des rebondissements, c’est « WTF mais cool », et ce Bat-Dick est assez bien dans la posture et les avancées. Avec aussi de forts beaux et dynamiques dessins de Dan Mora.

Intense. Joshua Williamson enchaine dans une confrontation brutale entre Bruce et ce Dick âgé devenu Batman, avec Bruce qui comprend qu’il est dans un piège du Heart of Apokolips. Il semble céder à l’illusion et au discours de Dick, meilleur physiquement que lui, mais il le bat en trichant et en allant jusqu’au bout. Il arrive dans un autre monde, où Gotham est sous cloche depuis vingt ans et un virus mortel du Joker. Jason y est Batman et veille à ce que personne n’entre dans la ville, et il pense que Bruce est Clayface qui se prend pour Bruce. Et Bruce se transforme effectivement en argile…
C’est intense, oui. Un peu pour le scénario, basique mais efficace, avec de bonnes confrontations et surtout une très bonne voix-off de Bruce qui fait un bon bilan de ses liens et projections vis-à-vis de ses héritiers. Mais surtout pour les dessins dynamiques, très construits et très réussis dans la bagarre d’un Dan Mora en feu et inspiré, avec aussi son Bruce très Jim Lee.
