L’éditeur Boom! Studio a dévoilé une image annonçant la mise en chantier d’un comics Big Trouble in Little China (plus connu dans nos contrées sous le titre* Les Aventures de Jack Burton dans les Griffes du Mandarin*) sur un scénario de Eric Powell (The Goon), supervisé par le cinéaste John Carpenter lui-même, et avec Brian Churchilla au dessin.
Le film Big Trouble in Little China raconte comment le camionneur Jack Burton (incarné par Kurt Russell) tente de sauver la petite copine de son ami Wang Chi, et se retrouve coincé au milieu d’une guerre occulte qui dépasse le bout de sa casquette.

Ce célèbre film de 1986 (et véritable flop commerciale qui marqua le retour du réalisateur au cinéma indépendant) a déjà été le sujet d’une tentative d’adaptation chez Top Cow avec Jason Badower et Evan Bleiweiss aux manettes. En 2010, le petit éditeur Crank Left a publié un numéro de Jack Burton Adventures chroniquant les aventures du camionneur après sa confrontation avec le Mandarin.

Le premier numéro de Big Trouble in Little China sortira en juillet 2014. Pour le moment, Eric Powell scénarise seulement les deux premiers arcs en quatre numéros chacun. Cependant, il ne ferme pas la porte à une possible suite si les idées sont au rendez-vous.
