« Forgive the cliché, but I’ve rarely been this excited about a new project. DC has provided an amazing opportunity for me to explore and, to some degree, reimagine this character in a very new light while bringing new challenges and consequences to a man who has lived far too long and is desperate for redemption. Rafa Sandoval brings palpable voltage to every panel, bringing out my Kirby-Simonson Big Noise instinct as Rafa’s gifts take me to places I never knew I wanted to go. My only regret is we only have 22 pages a month for this. »
C’est marrant, sur le dessin on dirait Zachari Levi (l’acteur qui joue Shazam). Ce serait ça la nouvelle approche ? Shazam endosse le rôle de Black Adam ? C’est quelque chose qui a déjà été fait ?
Je me questionnais sur le fait de faire ressembler Black Adam à Zachari Levi sur la couv… Est-ce que c’est vraiment un hasard, ou est-ce que ça pourrait vouloir dire que dans ce run, c’est Shazam qui allait endosser le rôle de Black Adam

Super lecture, mais je n’y retrouve pas Black Adam.
Christopher Priest lance ici un #1 réussi, où Black Adam affronte un faux Darkseid et se blesse, a priori sans pouvoir guérir. En parallèle, il est convoqué à une audition devant des autorités américaines qu’il humilie, puis découvre qu’un opposant à son régime au Kahndaq est tué aux Etats-Unis. Il remonte jusqu’à un interne médecin arrogant, qui s’avère être son descendant et qu’il fait enlever car il semble pouvoir l’aider à guérir.
Franchement, c’est bien. C’est bien fait, c’est prenant, on retrouve les tics de Priest, et c’est dynamique. Mais ce n’est « pas » Black Adam. Le look humain de Teth me rappelle un peu Matsu’o de la Main, mais l’ensemble du personnage me fait surtout penser à… Namor. Franchement, l’histoire aurait été la même et idéale avec Namor.
C’est bien, hein. C’est très bien dessiné par un Rafa Sandoval inspiré. Mais ça me semble très loin de Black Adam, notamment l’audition officielle, où je pense que « le vrai » aurait explosé.
Ca sera sûrement super, mais loin du perso’ de base.
