Je viens de lire le premier TPB reprenant cette série. Bon, moi, je suis faible : j’aime beaucoup le personnage en général, qui m’a laissé de nombreux souvenirs de lecture allant du pas mal à l’excellent, et Coates est servi par plein de dessinateurs que j’aime beaucoup, et Acuña en fait partie. Alors j’ai sauté sur le recueil.

J’aime beaucoup son démarrage, contrairement à la série précédente qui m’avait semblé s’envoler à la manière de l’albatros dans Bernard et Bianca : lentement. Ici, on commence sans ménagement, in medias res, et le premier épisode est frénétique. La contrepartie de ça, c’est qu’il est fâcheusement décompressé. Les autres sont un peu du même tonneau, ça se lit vite, un peu trop vite. Mais c’est très généreux en action, en aventure, et même un peu en caractérisation. Les voix off qu’affectionne le scénariste disparaissent, les personnages se définissent par leurs actions, c’est franchement bien. Je sens que je vais bientôt me relire tout ça, et prendre aussi les deux TPB voisins qui complètent la série centrale, histoire de profiter du tableau complet.
Franchement, pas mal du tout.

Je viens de lire le deuxième TPB reprenant cette saga galactique. Le premier tome avait démarré en force, mais également posé plus de questions que de réponses. Dans ce deuxième volet, on a une vision « géopolitique » plus claire des enjeux, l’explication du rôle de certains personnages, et surtout un éclaircissement, tardif mais bienvenu, sur la manière dont on est passé d’une série à l’autre, d’une situation à l’autre.
Question idées de SF, ça tabasse grave. Kev Walker envoie la sauce, même si son dessin demeure lourd et raide. Il a de belles cases, ça bastonne bien, mais ça manque de subtilité. Enfin, Coates nous gratifie de quelques belles scènes d’émotion, et d’une chouette caractérisation du personnage à la reconquête de lui-même.
Maintenant que les choses sont bien posées (enfin, en partie), j’ai hâte de lire le prochain recueil, d’autant qu’Acuña revient.
