On arrive à la conclusion du run de Joelle Jones et on dira que cela aura pu être meilleur car je pense que l’on en retiendra pas grand-chose malheureusement.
J’ai aimé le retour de sa soeur et quand Jones dessine. Pour le reste, c’est très neutre voire médiocre.
Bon, ben… que retenir? Pas grand chose malheureusement.
La série devait être une suite de Batman 50, où Sélina quitte Gotham et son Chevalier servant. Évidemment, l’éditorial aura rattrapé le présent puisque Sélina est depuis revenue à Gotham lors de l’excellent fin de run de Tom King (qui n’est pas fini, en fait).
Joelle Jones a essayé de tricoter dans cette nouvelle ville, ce nouveau vilain, inséré du zombie par cela doit plaire… Et forcément, la mayonnaise ne prend pas ou tourne mal.
C’est un peu dommage. Il aurait mieux fallu écrire une maxi de douze épisodes avec Joelle Jones au dessin, même si Blanco reste un excellent dessinateur (n’est-ce pas John Constantine?).
Je retiendrais le retour de sa soeur traumatisée lors du run de Brubaber, run d’un tout autre niveau. Mais le bilan est maigre.
On ne lui en veut pas. La vie continue.
En cette période COVIDienne, j’ai rangé ma bibliothèque et j’ai trouvé le premier tome du run de Brubaker. Je l’ai lu ce matin, dessiné par le regretté Cook. Quelle équipe du tonnerre! L’un sert l’autre. Brubaker est excellent, il rythme son intrigue pourtant classique et Cook balade Sélina avec brio.
Quelle claque de simplicité!
Après un court intérim co-écrit par Sean Gordon Murphy, Ram V (Justice League Dark) sera le nouveau scénariste de Catwoman à partir du #25. Fernando Blanco reste aux dessins.
