Les projets d’écriture en comics de Grant Morrison en développement se précisent:
20/9 A TREE MADE OF SPARKS - Xanaduum
TOO MANY FRANKENSTEINS NOT ENOUGH PITCHFORKS
Been working on the second issue of this WFH comic I’m doing and having fun with that. Steve Yeowell has started on the first issue of Sebastian 0 and the Magic Lantern Show and so far it’s looking fantastic! We’ll have some previews here soon. After failing to organise a Zoom call, I spoke to Steve on the phone for some preliminary discussion. This was the first time we’d spoken in 25 years or so but in the way of things we seemed to simply pick up on conversation as though there were no intervening decades. Looking forward to seeing him illustrating my scripts again.
It’s a Dead Dead Dead Dead World is in the process of being lettered and is inching its way to your eyeballs!
And I’ve inadvertently found myself writing a new novel! As mentioned in our previous instalment, over the last few years I’ve been compiling notes for a story about the local cats I feed and this week, it flamed into being as a full-blown Watership Down meets Weirdstone feline fantasy, demanding to be told in a rush of narrative and images that delivered detailed plot beats and titles for the first 12 chapters! It doesn’t have a name yet but you’ll be the first to know when it does!
Kristan and I met up with Liam Sharp and his wife Christine before Liam’s signing at Forbidden Planet in Glasgow recently. It was good to see him again and we discussed the potential of working together again on something …

The Arkham Asylum sequel has its first 40 pages completed and is currently waiting on negotiations with an artist and a contract. Batman Black and White sits unfinished but may yet get done in this lifetime. Some of the influences on the Arkham book include the relationship between Goethe’s Faust Part One which he wrote when he was 23 and Part Two which he completed when he was 80. The art of Francis Bacon. The Casa Malaparte on Capri and its creator, Curzio Malaparte, who began as an Italian Fascist before converting to Marxism. Jim Aparo’s art. Analogue horror.
The Arkham sequel is subtitled A House Like Me and the opening scene takes place 1000 years from today.

Côté indépendants, le projet World’s collide est officiellement lancé:
Finally, we secured an artist for the Worlds Collide project, teaming Captain Clyde with Etienne’s Kubwabo’s DJ ET character, to begin January for an end of 2027 release!
Et le serpent de mer Sinatoro pourrait devenir une maxi-série de douze épisodes:
Où l’on apprend que Morrison avait rédigé un script pour un film Flash qui n’a pas été retenu:
2.The Flash movie was loosely influenced by the structure of Back to the Future. Not that anyone would notice. Otherwise, it was very much its own thing and didn’t really borrow anything from the comics, other than the basic set-up from Geoff Johns of a murdered mom and imprisoned father, and a sequence that was inspired by my favourite scene from Mike Baron’s Flash run in the ‘80s, where Flash has to run cross-country to deliver an artificial heart to its new recipient, in this case the President - a black Democrat woman who is also a poet (only in a parallel universe…)!
Dark Flash (if you mean the grim Wally West from the future) and Jay Garrick did not appear, (his helmet shows up in the Flash Museum) but Cyborg had a big supporting role. Professor Zoom was the principal villain, who brings back 30th century technology which finds its way into the hands of the criminals who subsequently become the ‘Rogues Gallery’ – weather wands, deadly pan pipes, anti-gravity shoes, …etc.
I loved the screenplay and with a few revisions it would have been unbeatable, but I can’t reproduce any of the script as it was paid for by Warner Bros and is owned by them.
Flash Earth One was a completely different story and had no connection to the movie idea.
3.The Flash movie started in the 30th century with Eobard Thawne - ‘the Professor’ and the so-called ‘slowest man alive’ in an accelerated future world - as the guide in the Flash Museum. We played him as a deranged teacher, someone who feels it’s his duty to forge the Flash into the hero the world remembers.
‘Oh, Barry. You have to become a god, because only a god can stop me.’
The Thinker was part of a big twist in the story and Captain Cold had a strange ‘heat death of the universe’ role to play. Madonna’s Ray of Light was our theme song to get in the mood for Flash!
