Derek Landy and Ivan Fiorelli launch a new ‹ Doctor Strange › ongoing series this December.
No longer Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, Stephen Strange embarks on adventures in Asgard and beyond this December in DOCTOR STRANGE (2025), a new ongoing comic book series by acclaimed writer Derek Landy (INFINITY WATCH) and rising star Ivan Fiorelli (FANTASTIC FOUR). Main covers will feature the breathtaking painted artwork of legendary fantasy illustrator Alex Horley.
DOCTOR STRANGE explores the character’s bold new status quo as Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard. Following Thor’s rebirth as a mortal in Al Ewing and Pasqual Ferry’s newly launched THOR (2025) run, Asgard’s connection to Midgard has been shattered, leaving Strange no way to return to Earth. Instead, Strange will team up with Angela, in her long awaited return, for a true Journey Into Mystery across the other realms! Armed with new abilities and weapons thanks to his growing proficiency with Asgardian magic, Strange will discover the wonder these otherworldly realms truly have to offer—along with the ancient threats submerged in their mythologies. Get a glimpse at some of the new faces Doctor Strange will encounter on his quest, from the royal family of Heven to a dark elvish sorcerer, in never-before-seen design sheets.
Plus, next month’s DOCTOR STRANGE (2025) #450 one-shot includes a special prelude story by Landy and Fiorelli, introducing his mission and teasing his new mystical arsenal. It’ll also debut his new look, designed by artist Geoff Shaw.

Bon lancement, plus emballant que la mini-série précédente. Derek Landy revient sur son idée de Stephen en Sorcier Suprême d’Asgard, désormais coincé là-bas depuis la mort de Thor orchestrée par Loki. Et Sif lui en veut, car Stephen avait caché le retour d’exil de Loki à Thor, donc il a un lien indirect avec tout ceci. Sif l’envoie sur l’un des Neuf Mondes encore liés à Yggdrasil pour stopper une confrontation entre les Elfes et les Anges de Heven. Il embauche Angela pour l’aider, car la brouille est forte : la Régente des Anges veut ouvrir un cercueil de fer où elle avait enfermé un Sorcier elfe maléfique jadis, pour lui couper la tête et prouver ainsi à Asgard avoir réussi son contrat donné par Odin jadis, car l’absence de preuve a conduit au déshonneur. Mais les Elfes refusent car le Sorcier est de sang royal. Stephen obtient d’ouvrir lui le cercueil et de confirmer le décédé, mais celui-ci en sort bien vivant (comme craint par la Régente) et se révèle plus fort que Stephen, en usant de la Magie des moments manqués. Ça bagarre dur, ça tape dur, ça va fort, le Sorcier maléfique veut détruire tous les enfants vivants, mais Stephen active une « super-puissance magique » en cliffhanger.
C’est bien, oui. Le scénario est plus fluide et emballant que la mini-série, avec un Stephen « mal » traité mais qui gère bien. Je suis content de revoir Heven et ses Anges, ça les creuse un peu et c’est cool, avec une bonne intrigue et un bon méchant. Et de jolis dessins d’Ivan Fiorelli, qui a déjà fait mieux mais dont le style clair est ici agréable à l’oeil.
Un bon début.
After opening the mysterious coffin plaguing Alfheim, Strange and Angela come face-to-face with the dark wizard VYRBODIN! Strange attempts to capture him by tapping into a dangerous new form of power, but Vyrbodin escapes and puts a plan into motion that will endanger innocent lives across the Nine Realms. Strange will have to move Heven and Earth to stop him before his power grows…

Pas mal et plutôt prenant. Derek Landy poursuit sa saga où Dr Strange confronte un Sorcier Elfe jadis enfermé par les Anges de Heven. Celui-ci pousse Stephen à abuser de la Magie asgardienne mais il se retient, alors que le Sorcier Elfe a une Dark Daughter similaire à la fille de la Régente des Anges. Le Sorcier Elfe est vaincu mais les Anges sont mortes, et Strange va l’évoquer à la Régente avec Angela, qui refuse toujours d’être Reine. La Régente indique à Stephen, Angela et sa fille qu’elle a jadis accepté « un marché » avec le Sorcier Elfe, lui accordant son premier enfant s’il accepte d’être vaincu. Elle l’a frappé mortellement mais il n’en est pas mort, et elle n’a jamais pu lui amener sa fille. Stephen tente de raisonner et recherche comment il a pu avoir cette Dark Daughter, et il identifie un piège avec le Sorcier Elfe qui massacre les Anges masculins « gardés » pour l’accouplement, puis les conseillers puis la Régente. Et le Sorcier Elfe corrompt la fille de celle-ci pour ses projets.
Bon, c’est correct et fluide. Je ne connais quasiment rien des Anges de Heven, et j’aime bien cette petite plongée là-dedans. Stephen tâtonne mais maîtrise plus que dans la précédente mini-série, et j’aime bien suivre tout ça, avec des dessins cependant un peu simples, eux dans le mauvais sens, d’Ivan Fiorelli.
Bonne petite plongée exotique de Dr Strange en Heven.
