J’avoue avoir de la difficulté à lire ce revirement. La ligne est assez claire, c’est des comics pour les « gens dangereux ». Les histoires sont assez dingues (Cave Carson) et assez proches de vieux titres Vertigo (Doom Patrol, Shade). La dernière est plus mainstream avec son soupçon de dialogues crus.
Personnellement, je m’y retrouve beaucoup. C’est fun, speed et barré sans tomber dans le ridicule.

Derington, c’est quand même la classe. Même en retard des six mois.
La collection Young Animals prendra provisoirement fin en août, après les sixièmes numéros des séries en cours (Shade the Changing Woman, Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye, Mother Panic et Eternity Girl).
Gerard Way a confirmé que ces arrêts étaient prévus et que cela ne marque pas la fin du label Young Animals :
“This is not the end of Young Animal. We’ll have more to news to share when we come back with Doom Patrol. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of these amazing series.”
Ca reste une belle porte de sortie car je pense que les intrigues de la deuxième (ou seconde…) saison correspondaient à des arcs de 10-12 épisodes.
Mais bon, le label aura eu la bonne idée d’exister car c’était délirant avec un goût de bonbons acidulés. Graphiquement, l’imprint proposait de la très bonne came. Les Doom Patrol sont des récits magnifiques et très bien narrés malgré un scénario fourmillant. Mother Panic voyait le retour d’Edwards et rien que les épisodes dessinés par ce dernier valent le détour. Marley Zarcone sur Shade envoyait du steak aussi… Oeming reste campé sur son style (qu’on aime ou pas) mais son Cave Carson me plaisait aussi.
Je pense que c’est surtout les histoires (trop) alambiquées qui ont fini par perdre les lecteurs. Le Shade est éparpillé, la seconde saison m’a définitivement perdu…
Cave Carson était fou mais très compréhensible finalement. Je pense malgré tout que certains raccourcis étaient évitables.
Mother Panic était le plus classique, sûrement le plus accessible.
C’est d’ailleurs cette accessibilité qui aura bloqué les lecteurs et certains ont quitté le navire à cause de cela.
Enfin, les retards de la Doom Patrol (est-ce des réécritures incessantes?) auront eu la peau du DC Young Animals. Peut-être trop dangereux pour les gens…

Franchement je crois pas au fait que ce soit prévu.
Le relaunch était censé tout relancer apres le cross avec DC mais les ventes du cross et des #1 du relaunch étaient pas satisfaisantes.
