Hé bien c’est pas mal du tout, cette petite série.
Ça commence sur un mystère (où sont passés tous les Lantern ? Ils sont perdus, leurs équipiers ont disparu, tout ça tout ça…), ça enquille sur des cliffhangers vraiment bien, dont les développements permettent de creuser un peu plus certains personnages (notamment des vilains). Et au final, ça se tricote assez bien avec la série Green Lantern centrale.
Moi, j’aime bien Cullen Bunn. Il sait bien gérer son rythme, il utilise de manière astucieuse les univers dans lesquels il évolue. Donc je suis un peu client de son boulot. Ici, on sent aussi la nécessité éditoriale de ranger un peu les jouets, mais c’est pas trop visible, donc le suspense est privilégié. Et comme il parvient à utiliser des personnages secondaires intéressants, ça passe super bien.
Graphiquement, Jesus Saiz assure comme un beau diable. Il est dommage qu’il ne soit pas présent partout : Cliff Richards et Javier Pina, qui viennent le dépanner, font un super boulot, mais ça casse un peu l’unité.
Mais pour qui aime l’univers des Lantern, ça reste une lecture très recommandable.

J’aimais beaucoup John Stewart quand il n’était qu’architecte. Depuis que les editors et les auteurs insistent sur son passé militaire, ça devient un peu lourd. Comme c’est le cas ici pour les flash-backs consacrés à ses traumatismes de guerre.
Mais bon, j’ai bien le personnage, capable de remettre Gardner à sa place, de mener une équipe, tout ça.
Cette mini est franchement pas mal. Je viens enfin de lire la fin, et c’est plutôt bien troussé. Bunn creuse un peu ce que Johns a proposé autour de Krona, et ce que Venditti a posé autour de Relic. Et il s’en sort bien. De plus, il développe des trucs passionnants autour des anneaux, qui en fait me donne envie de le voir revenir sur la franchise : parce que visiblement, il a des idées sur les lanternes.
Le truc très dommage, c’est justement qu’il ne fait pas la mini suivante, Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion. De sorte qu’il pose des idées chouettes et glisse quelques subplots, mais que rien ne sera exploité puisque Tom Taylor va aller dans une autre direction. En soi, c’est pas super grave, puisque l’action se passe dans le passé et que les conséquences, on les connaît déjà, mais bon, quand même…

En tout cas, je ne serai pas contre voir Jésus Saiz atterrir sur un titre cosmique après son run sur Captain America.
