PANICK Entertainment and IllComic are teaming up with Compass International Pictures and Further Front for a new Halloween comic book series set within the world of IllFonic’s upcoming game. Plotted by Hans Rodionoff and Adam F. Goldberg, the comic features art by Eamon Winkle, Robert Nelson, Ivan Dedov, and Sean O’Toole, with colors by Robert Nugent.
Much like the game, the story turns the clock back to October 30, 1978, the night before the events of John Carpenter’s original Halloween. Michael Myers is still locked away at Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, but that’s about to change in a big way.
Michael orchestrates a brutal escape from Smith’s Grove, leaving bodies behind as Dr. Loomis realizes the evil he has spent years trying to contain is loose. From there, Michael begins making his way toward Haddonfield, and anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path is in serious trouble.
While the comic is closely tied to Halloween: The Game, don’t expect a simple adaptation. The series will expand on the game’s five new playable Heroes of Haddonfield, offering new stories that can stand alongside the original film while filling in some of the terrifying gaps surrounding Halloween night in 1978.
“HALLOWEEN is one of the foundational properties of modern horror, and this game and story gives readers an incredible opportunity to get back to the characters and the world that started it all while offering some new elements that will surprise and terrify fans,” PANICK Entertainment founder and CEO Kris Longo said.
Longo also teased that the comic will show fans moments they never got to see in Carpenter’s film.
“This is classic Michael Myers unleashed, and we think fans are going to love getting a glimpse of some truly spine-tingling moments that were not seen in Carpenter’s original film.”
That approach was important to Malek Akkad of Compass International Films, who wanted the comic to have a reason to exist beyond recreating familiar scenes.
“Rather than just re-enact or adapt the story of the original film into a comic book, we wanted to explore the five new characters from the game and create new suspense-filled stories with Michael Myers,” Akkad said. “We wanted the comic to be able to stand on its own.”
Rodionoff and Goldberg are particularly well positioned to bridge the two projects, as the pair also wrote the single-player script for Halloween: The Game. Their comics collaborations include Marvel’s What If…? Aliens and Damage Control, along with Zenescope’s Possessive.
The first issue will also feature three covers, including work by Zach Howard and Nelson Daniel, Jonathan Wayshak, and Eamon Winkle and Sean O’Toole. The latter two variants will be limited to 1,500 and 500 copies, respectively.
Halloween: The Game launches September 8, 2026, while the comic will give fans another way to dig into its version of Haddonfield and the new characters caught in Michael Myers’ path.
