INNARDS #1 (Rob Guillory / Sam Lofti)

Exclusive: Rob Guillory and Sam Lotfi descend into sci-fi horror with ‘Innards’

The Chew creator reunites with Sam Lotfi for a gritty underground thriller about corporate secrets, deadly divers, and humanity’s last energy source buried miles beneath the Earth.

Rob Guillory and Sam Lotfi are heading deep below the surface with their next collaboration.

As revealed during Ignition Press’ retailer presentation at ComicsPRO’s Annual Industry Meeting, the Chew and Farmhand creator is reuniting with Mosely artist Sam Lotfi for a new psychological sci-fi thriller titled Innards. The first issue arrives in comic shops on May 6, 2026.

Innards is a gritty sci-fi action tale that’s lived in my head for many years, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to finally tell it with Ignition,” said Guillory. “Our creative team is really banging on all cylinders with this one, and I can’t wait to get this in people’s hands.”

“I’ve had the best time developing characters, world-building, and illustrating the dark sci-fi world of Innards,” said Lotfi. “The creative team and Ignition Press have all been a joy to collaborate with, so suit up and get ready to dive in!”

Humanity’s last hope lies underground

Innards centers on Roy Wilder, who begins his first day on what is described as the most dangerous job in the world. After a catastrophic nuclear attack, humanity’s final energy source is a mysterious mineral known as Lucifium. Buried miles beneath Earth’s surface, the mineral can only be reached through teleportation and a perilous trek across a hostile subterranean maze.

The men tasked with retrieving it are known as divers, a rough brotherhood employed by the ONIS corporation. They risk their bodies and minds in pursuit of wealth and survival, led by hardened rig boss Jax Ridley. Roy’s initiation sets off a chain reaction that exposes a corporate secret and awakens something far more dangerous in the depths below.

Senior Editor Maggie Howell calls the series one to watch.

Innards is the must-read book of the year for anyone hooked on thoughtful sci-fi and disaster thrillers,” said Howell. “Rob and Sam have crafted a ripping entry into the genre, with jaw-dropping environment designs, seemingly effortless pacing and tension, and an unforgettable ensemble team of characters whose unique perspectives and forced proximity in an emergency push them all to the edge. It’s a classic framework with new depths—don’t miss it!”
