Les héros et vilains de l’univers DC seront projetés dans le Royaume des Cauchemars dans Knight Terrors, la saga de l’été DC qui sera composée de plusieurs courtes mini-séries. Joshua Williamson chapeaute l’ensemble et les premiers dessinateurs annoncés sont Howard Porter et Guillem March.

Bon, clairement, il ne faut pas s’attendre ici à une grande histoire, une grande BD, ou quoi que ce soit d’ambitieux. Mais, comme événement estival léger (malgré l’aura glauque et gore, oui) et prenant, ça commence très bien.
Ici, on voit un rêve de Dr Destiny qui tourne mal car une créature l’attaque et exige de savoir où est non pas la Dreamstone mais la Nightmarestone. Dr Destiny souffre, alors que Deadman est attiré par le Hall de Justice qui semble hanté, alors qu’il est ouvert au public. Superman, Batman et Wonder Woman y sont attirés par une alarme, et découvrent le cadavre de Dr Destiny… mais Harley Quinn appelle Batman : Dr Destiny est encore à l’Arkham Tower et souffre. Batman s’y rend, les héros appellent la JLD qui sèche. Le Dr Destiny d’Arkham s’évapore, l’autre aussi : ce sont des constructions de rêve « solide », et l’on apprend que Destiny a caché la Nightmarestone dans l’esprit de ses ennemis (la Trinité ?). Amanda Waller surveille, alors qu’une vague de cauchemars est lancée sur le monde par le responsable, l’inconnu et terrible Insomnia que semble connaître Deadman.
J’aime bien, vraiment. Je n’y vois qu’un divertissement brut et bourrin, avec une ambiance horrifique qui me plaît bien, notamment parce que Howard Porter se donne à fond et livre des planches inspirées, avec des ambiances crades et surnaturelles qui fonctionnent très bien. Joshua Williamson prend sûrement trop de temps et de pages pour raconter ça, mais… j’en ressors assez pris et intéressé, par ce délire bourrin, je le répète, mais fun.
Je suis curieux des suites, et ça fait plaisir !
Une ouverture qui assume l’objet d’un divertissement d’été bourrin et glauque, et c’est cool car c’est bien fait en ce sens.
Mais j’aime bien son évolution.
J’avais entendu dire qu’il avait eu un accident à la main, ce qui l’avait contraint à faire des petits boulots le temps de guérir et de réapprendre à dessiner. Chapeau.
