Marauders (2022) #1-5
Ayant décidé de me passer de la suite de Excalibur avec Knights of X parce que rien que sur le premier numéro Tini Howard fait du Tini Howard, me voilà dans l’univers des Mutants post Inferno et X Lives & X Deaths avec le relaunch de la série Marauders par Steve Orlando.
L’auteur tente de reprendre ce que proposais Gerry Duggan : Un récit totalement décompressé, rempli d’action et assez fun d’autant qu’ici il est accompagné d’une Eleonora Carlini qui propose un travail plutôt plaisant visuellement et dans le ton de la série.
Reste que je trouve que nous ne retrouvons pas la maestria de Duggan ici et Orlando se perd dans une aventure certes décompressée mais qui se veut plus sérieuse, plus complexe mais tant dans le fond que la forme cela ne marche guère.
Dans ce récit nous revenons à un énième affrontement entre Mutants & Shi’ar pour découvrir le secret du « Premier sang versé » des premiers Mutants, ce qui n’entre pas en contradiction avec Apocalypse ? Combien même nous zapperions ce détail, la question même d’une armée secrète protégeant le secret n’était pas mauvais, mais c’est affreusement artificiel je trouve. Jamais l’auteur n’arrive à rendre son récit attrayant, multipliant les dialogues froids dans une action bordélique qui n’amène aucune sensation de tension malgré les multiples références de voyages temporels, de morts ou encore même du retour de Cassandra Nova. Globalement c’est assez fade.

En dessinateur qui officie sur les titres mutants y’enva plusieurs, Larraz, Caselli, Werneck, Reis. J’ai jamais été fan du mélange des genre, le manga, c’est le manga et le comic book c’est le comic book.
