NEW AGENTS. NEW MISSION. NEW BEGINNING. . . Oni Press and Flux House revealed a first look inside of MIND MGMT: New & Improved #1 – the FIRST ISSUE of an all-new, entirely self-contained entry point into the genre-bending, Eisner Award-nominated series that Entertainment Weekly calls “one of the most experimental and fascinating books in mainstream comics.” Sit back, relax, and feel your pulse steadily escalate to dangerous levels of over-adrenalized anxiety as New York Times best-selling creator and multiple Eisner Award-nominated cartoonist Matt Kindt returns to the scene of his definitive statement on the art of psychic espionage.
Ten years ago, the extra-governmental agency known as Mind Management exploded in a barrage of bullets and brain matter. Those that survived have gone underground – forging new lives with unremarkable identities and falsified pasts to obfuscate the strange abilities that once made them highly prized assets in the global war for psychic control. Now, two investigators – Detective Delphi and Detective Swan – have found themselves at the center of an unexpected puzzle. Here: A man poisoned in a coffee shop with a sophisticated neurotoxin. There: A supposed suicide victim run over by a train … with his arms found in a trashcan five miles from the tracks. Their connection: Someone is killing former Mind Management agents in improbable and arcane ways … Seemingly impossible crimes committed by a faceless killer capable of evading even the most pervasive digital surveillance. What secret are they killing to protect? Who will be next? Has Mind Management returned? Did it ever go away? You are paranoid … but are you paranoid enough?
MIND MGMT: New & Improved #1 will arrive in comic shops in June 2026.
Hitting comic shops July 22, the second issue continues this new entry point into the Mind MGMT universe, a series built on psychic espionage, paranoia, and shifting realities. This chapter raises the stakes quickly, with a string of murders targeting Mind Management agents and no clear suspect in sight.
At the center of the story are Detective Delphi and Detective Swon, who find themselves pulled deeper into the mystery as the body count rises. Their investigation leads them to Phoenix, Arizona, where the case takes a more personal turn. Swon begins to question his own past and whether the organization he works for is hiding more than it reveals. As his visions grow more unstable, Delphi is forced to navigate both the emotional toll of the case and her responsibilities to an organization under pressure.
Kindt continues to handle every aspect of the series, from writing and art to colors, lettering, and design. That approach gives the book a distinct voice, one that leans into disorientation and layered storytelling.
The issue will also arrive with a strong lineup of variant covers, including work from Kindt alongside artists Jasper Jubenvill, Jenna Cha, and Patricia Martín, each bringing their own style to the series’ surreal tone.
Before that, Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 lands June 24, featuring a die-cut cover by Kindt and a unique “Operation: Blind Bag” release. That edition includes one of 15 possible variant covers, with contributions from creators like Jeff Lemire, Fábio Moon, David Rubín, and J.H. Williams III, among others. The blind bag approach adds an extra layer of mystery, fitting for a series built on secrecy and hidden truths.
With a new mystery unfolding and trust in short supply, Mind MGMT: New & Improved #2 looks set to push deeper into the paranoia that has defined the series from the start.
