Depuis début 2013, Marvel Comics s’occupe de la distribution des produits Legend Comics (The Tower Chronicles). De fait, l’album Pacif Rim: Tales from Year Zero paraitra chez Marvel en juin 2013.

L’histoire se déroule 10 ans avant les évènements du film Pacific Rim, à l’époque de la première attaque Kaiju et de la construction du premier Jaeger. Le scénario a été confié au scénariste du film: Travis Beacham.
La partie graphique est partagée entre Yvel Guichet (Stormwatch), Pericles Junior, Chris Batista (The Flash #23.1: Grodd) et Sean Chen.

I think originally, the most honest beginning of it was that I kept wondering when they were going to just do a modern version of giant robots versus giant monsters. I think maybe because as a kid Godzilla was the first movie that I ever really remember seeing. I was way into Voltron, Ray Harryhausen, anything with giant monsters I was really into. Even dinosaurs, for a while I wanted to be a paleontologist. So it’s almost like primal, ancestral mythology to me, this fascination with monsters. As far as the design goes I think we kind of met on the same terms. We both dance with the same sort of step, its part of why we work so well together. We speak the same language and we make kind of the same references without any worry that the other one won’t understand what we’re talking about. So it’s a very natural, very fun collaboration.

Moi qui avait trouvé l’exposition du film sous exploité, ce bouquin peut s’avérer particuliérmeent intéressant. Bon, par contre, graphiquement, ça n’a pas l’air jouasse. Je ne suis pas un gros fan de Sean Chen et Yvel Guichet et je ne connais pas Pericles Junior. Il n’y que Batista qui évoque de l’intérêt, et encore, somme toute, assez poli
