Dévoilé lors du Emerald City Comicon, la nouvelle scénariste qui officiera aux manettes de la série Red Sonja à partir de juillet est Gail Simone (Batgirl). L’italien Walter Giovani reste en tant que dessinateur régulier du titre.
Pour l’occasion, la scénariste a fait appel à ses amies pour s’occuper des couvertures de la série. Ci-dessous, couvertures de Fiona Staples, Nicola Scott et Colleen Doran.

Ce n’est pas un personnage de Robert Howard, l’auteur de Conan? J’ai vu il y a longtemps un film réunissant les deux héros, il y avait un gros type avec une massue en forme de tibia .

Ce film, c’est Kalidor.
en gros, pour résumer, Red Sonja telle qu’on l’a connaît a été créée par Roy Thomas dans la série Conan chez Marvel, et elle est inspirée de Sonya de Rogatino, personnage d’une nouvelle de Howard qui se passe… au 16e siècle.
Donc ouais, considérablement « adaptée », quoi.
Et en fait, le film au départ devait être un film « Red Sonja », mais la production a flippé à l’idée de donner le rôle central et titre à un personnage féminin. D’où glissement vers le personnage masculin, qui au départ devait être Conan. Mais pour des raisons de droits, c’est devenu Kalidor.
Il me semble d’ailleurs que ce « Kalidor » a été créé pour l’occasion, et n’est pas un personnage des textes de Howard, mais j’avoue que je n’en suis pas sûr.
Et Schwartzieavait travaillé ses muscles pour leur donner un rendu différent.
Précision, Sonja était jouée par Birgit Nielsen - Madame Stallone, à l’époque - et les producteurs craignaient qu’elle soit très mauvaise. D’où la star bankable. Le mec au tibia, c’était Paul Smith : on l’a vu en gardien de prison sadique dans Midnight express, en beast Raban dans Dune et en exterminateur de cafards mais pas que dans Mort sur le Grill.
C’est le distributeur français qui a mis l’accent sur le personnage joué par Schwarzie.

Ah autant pour moi, j’avais cru que c’était un titre international. J’aurais dû prendre le temps de vérifier sur IMDB.
