Pour fêter les 50 ans du S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel Comics publiera en septembre cinq one-shots consacrés à ses célèbres agents.
Le scénaristes Brad Walker (Cyborg) s’occupera d’un numéro sur les deux Fury, Jody Houser sur l’Agent May, Chelsea Cain écrira Mockingbird, Matt Rosenberg et Patrick Kindlon s’intéresseront à l’ex-directrice Quake, et Kathryn Immonen retrouvera l’Agent Carter après la mini-série Operation S.I.N.

Les variations chromatiques sont monnaie courante dans le petit monde des comics; Green Lantern et les Hulks en sont un exemple flagrant. La dernière en date ? La Veuve Rouge, une mystérieuse super-espionne issue du programme russe Chambre Rouge.
Le personnage fera d’abord ses débuts dans un court récit en complément de Mockingbird: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1 sous les crayons de la romancière Margaret Stohl et de l’artiste Nico Leon avant de poursuivre sa carrière dans le roman Veuve Noire: Rouge à Jamais de la même auteure.
