Voilà une petite découverte sympathique après avoir laissé tomber « Legion of X » après la lecture d’un numéro inutilement compliqué et verbeux et qui n’arrivait pas à capter mon intérêt.

Sabretooth de Victor LaValle, narre l’un des gros points noir de Krakoa, un des gros secrets en abordant le concept de la Prison Mutante, alias la Fausse ! Que deviennent les Mutants qui ne suivent pas les règles ? Pourquoi certains Mutants disparaissent de Krakoa sans laisser de trace ? Et si le fameux conseil des sages n’était finalement que pure hypocrisie lorsqu’il s’agit de redonner une seconde chance ?

Non à Krakoa, tout n’est pas blanc ou noir, Krakoa et son Eden doivent se salir les mains pour que ce paradis survive sur le long terme. L’auteur part du personnage de Dent de Sabre pour montrer comment la bête assoiffée de sang est capable de se faire avoir par le Conseil de Krakoa et de mener sa révolte de l’intérieur tel un virus. Prenant sous son aile, des Mutants dissidents, le monstre sanguinaire va amener doucement mais surement une ombre sur Krakoa qui pourrait avoir de néfastes conséquences tout en teasant un événement important via Destinée.

C’est bien rythmé et sous une narration classique et une forme plutôt banale, L’auteur propose quelque chose qui aura forcément des incidences pour le futur des Mutants et même si visuellement Leonard Kirk ne propose pas un boulot véritablement formidable, cela se laisse regarder sans trop de problème.
