SUNDOWNERS #1-8 (Tim Seeley / Jim Terry)

Le scénariste Tim Seeley (Batman Eternal, Revival, Hack/Slash) est très sollicité cette année. De fait, il a décidé d’ajouter une série à son agenda; Sundowners avec son partenaire Jim Terry (Jack Kraken).

L’histoire raconte comment un groupe de soutient se déguise en super-héros, à la demande d’un psychiatre tortueux, pour combattre leurs propres démons. Seeley décrit cette nouvelle série régulière comme une rencontre entre « Invasion Los Angeles » (John Carpenter, 1988) et la célèbre Doom Patrol de DC Comics.

Sundowners #1 sort en juin prochain chez Dark Horse.

J’aime bien le dessin. Quelqu’un lit cette série ?

J’ai lu les quatre premiers et je trouve ça plutôt sympa pour le moment. Il y a un petit coté « Doom Patrol terre-à-terre », quand le bizarre rencontre la déficience mentale avec une petite touche d’horreur. Je sais pas trop où ça va, mais c’est amusant à suivre.

J’aime beaucoup le dessin. La dernière planche me fait penser à du Ditko qui aurait bouffé du Romita ! (et là, je sens que j’ai dit une connerie)

Et c’est très sympa a lire. Un poil long pour un premier arc, mais assez addictif. Le dernier épisode finit sur un joli twist qui oblige le psychiatre a pousser le jeu de ses patients un peu plus loin à son propre détriment.
