THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE #1-5 (Fabian Nicieza / Sandoval)

1) It’s the Age of Apocalypse! It was one of the most popular alternate storylines ever created in the history of superhero comics and we get to revisit it with a fresh spin!

 1. I’m writing the X-Men after 20 years (give or take a Gambit series and some other stuff, but you know what I mean)! And you all love me (or at least you used to love me)! And even if you don’t love me (or never loved me), most of you didn’t hate me either!

With that kind of conflicted uncertainty, you just know you have to check it out!

 1. A trained monkey could be typing this thing (and yes, I am well-trained) and you should check it out because Gerardo Sandoval’s art is so ridiculously hot that just turning the pages is going to make you sweat!

Ci-dessous, les premières pages de The Age of Apocalypse:
En Sabah Nur has taken total control over his domain. Mutants are supreme, humans are chattel. The X-Men are down to their last dregs. Their last hope for stopping Apocalypse is to prove that his ultimate, insane plan is to challenge the God of Battleworld. Meanwhile, the human population is so desperate that they believe their sole hope of survival is to commit genocide against all mutants.

That’s a pretty fun status quo to start the story with, isn’t it?

This storyline is very self-contained. Apocalypse had gotten a little too feisty with incursions into neighboring domains, so Doom put a stop to that. For a few years, Apocalypse has been confined to the borders of his own domain, so this story is really about the snake eating its own tail.

Because all the crazies were put in a locked room, things got a lot worse for the humans and mutants within his domain far faster than they might have under other circumstances. So, we start with everything in dire straits and the X-Men very desperate to put an end to Apocalypse before the pressure-cooker explodes and everybody dies.
