W. Maxwell Prince & Martin Morazzo lancent une mini-série intéressante et clairement « Vertigoesque », sur une nouvelle variation de Deadman. Avec lancement dans une ambiance étrange, rappel ou réitération de l’origine, ennemi glauque et cannibale, et un je-ne-sais-quoi d’atmosphère troublée et troublante.
C’est intense, joli, « indé » dans l’approche et bien accrocheur. Je continuerais en relié mais la proposition est pertinente et intéressante.

The third edition of this morbid disquisition concerning the attrition/detrition of the human condition, which, in the weekly tradition, boasts a four-color exhibition on some printer’s emission. Here, by order of an anonymous optician, watch closely this vision of our titular apparition (armed, you’ll remember, with fresh erudition) try and survive — by another’s volition — a dire and dangerous mission through the hissin’, Stygian conditions of putrid and pockmarked Perdition–a kind of new rendition (depicted as a living, breathing country-sized conniption), which is rich in its list of sick compositions: e.g., reason’s egregious abolition; a pyrotechnic passel of pernicious seditions; hideous, bulging buck-toothed dentition; admittedly ambitious demonic deglutition… of gargoyles and ghouls in decomposition… not to mention an array of impossible physical positions that a physician might consider the work of magicians. So please accept our contrition for this rude imposition, our addled transmission this ungodly, offset-press parturition–one that we wish some brave obstetrician would bring to fruition its quick decommission.

Incroyable qu’il y ait un lectorat présent sur ce titre pour le porter au point d’obtenir une prolongation. C’est pourtant l’association d’un personnage un peu obscur et d’une approche narrative hors des canons mainstream habituels de l’éditeur. Enfin, tant mieux, parce ça a l’air assez grisant; le feuilletage du troisième numéro révèle un certain nombre de planches renversantes.

Je pense surtout que DC améliore son image en ne voulant pas être gourmand sur des titres secondaires. Aussi, peut-être que les non-lecteurs de DC ou de mainstream (plus axés dans les lectures indépendantes, par exemple) se laissent tenter et séduire.
La bonne hype aidant…
Bref, c’est positif! DC construit un beau catalogue où picorer.
