Comme souligné ailleurs, merci d’abord pour ce travail de récupération des différentes preview, c’est un travail très apprécié !

Je suis curieux de voir comment va aboutir ce petit arc narratif qui présente des rogues assez proches de ceux de Johns notamment. Leur plan est bateau mais bien exécuté et le retour de certains personnage fait plaisir (même Wolfe).

Le titre ne m’a pas transporté depuis ces débuts mais cette fois ci ça fonctionne et j’espère que c’est partir pour durer !

J’ai repris ma lecture de la série après la saga de Godspeed, qui était sympa mais un peu prévisible, en plus d’être trop longue à mon goût.
Et en fait, je trouve que pas mal de séries fonctionne sur un modèle assez frappant, consistant à débuter avec une saga longue, pas toujours passionnante, et souvent (c’est pas le cas ici, mais pour d’autres, c’est frappant) articulée autour d’un vieil ennemi (Sinestro et Atrocitus pour les séries des Lanternes Vertes, par exemple), puis à enchaîner avec des choses plus intéressantes. La première saga sert en général à poser les personnages secondaires et les enjeux à long terme, et il faut attendre la fin de cette première étape pour que les choses sérieuses commencent.
Là, c’est un peu pareil : l’épisode 9 présente un nouveau vilain mais surtout s’intéresse à la rencontre entre les deux Wally West, les trois suivants ramènent un vieux vilain (le Shade), etc etc.
Graphiquement, c’est plutôt sympa. Felipe Watanabe, notamment, fait de belles planches, dynamiques, lisibles, avec des personnages séduisants. Celui qui m’a épaté, c’est Jorge Corona. Son épisode m’a épaté. J’ai du mal à le resituer : c’est bien le dessinateur de We Are Robin, ou bien je confonds ? Il livre des faciès expressifs, des planches dynamiques, beaucoup d’action, des cases bien composées. Et d’une certaine manière, sa prestation m’a rappelé la période Waid, qui a bénéficié de chouettes dessinateurs (Wieringo, Pacheco, Jimenez…), et j’ai retrouvé une petite étincelle de ça dans son épisode.
Et du coup, ça m’a frappé : Williamson, malgré son trop grand usage de voix off, parvient à se reconnecter à cette formidable période. D’une part parce qu’il renoue avec l’aspect souriant et optimiste du personnage, ce qui n’est pas anodin à une période où les personnages sont crispés. Mais il ne fait pas que ça. C’est la série qui s’inspire de Waid, mais pour ma part, ça ne m’avait pas paru évident dans le premier récit.
Avec l’intrigue autour de Godspeed, Williamson refaisait de Flash un mentor, un enseignant. Ce qui est à fond dans l’adn du personnage. Et son Godspeed, c’est son Savitar à lui. La référence est claire.
Mais passée cette première intrigue, on trouve le héros face à son jeune apprenti, comme Wally avec Bart à l’époque de Waid, on trouve l’idée de l’exploration des pouvoirs et de la découverte de nouvelles capacités, on trouve le thème de la disparition dans un autre univers dont la solution reste l’amour (référence à Wally et Linda), on trouve la construction d’une intrigue autour d’un vieux vilain qui a droit à une rédemption, on trouve l’inscription dans la continuité (avec un bel hommage au Starman de Robinson).
Alors Williamson n’est pas Waid, en termes d’écriture, de talents, de finesse et de ruse, mais l’intention est louable et il est généreux.
Pas encore entamé l’aventure avec les Rogues (je crains un peu de retomber dans le tout-venant), mais les épisodes 9 à 13 sont vraiment très sympas.
