Un peu agacé par sa trop courte histoire publiée dans l’anthologie The Rocketeer Adventures en 2011, le scénariste Marc Guggenheim revient sur le jeune héros au jetpack crée par Dave Stevens à l’occasion d’une nouvelle aventure en cinq numéros intitulée The Rocketeer At War et illustrée par l’artiste Dave Bullock .
Devenu simple soldat, le jeune Cliff Secord doit redoubler d’inventivité pour combattre les forces de l’Axe dans une Europe en pleine guerre (jusqu’à ce qu’il trouve le courage de ré-endosser sa célèbre Rocket en tout cas).
Le premier numéro sort en décembre chez IDW Publishing .

Ah, well that’s the fun of the book. I don’t want to spoil too much, but I will say that at the start of the series, Cliff isn’t the Rocketeer anymore. He’s just an average soldier, an average « joe. » Obviously, we’ll correct that by the end of the first issue, but I find it fun to see Cliff in a different environment, stripped of his jetpack and supporting cast. It makes it all the more exciting when we get the band back together.
