Je viens de lire les épisodes 8 et 9, et ça redémarre bien. La situation (pour un peu tout le monde) remerde dans les grandes largeurs, la tension monte et visiblement, il va falloir ourdir un nouveau plan bien tordu. C’est vicieux comme tout, y a une belle ambiance… Les titres de scènes sont moins fréquents et moins drôles, ceci dit, ça retire une pointe de sel. Mais c’est vraiment pas mal…

Le deuxième arc se finissait en ouvrant sur une suite directe, et glissait du récit de braquage à l’intrigue de polar noir (bien noir). C’était pas mal, mais il y avait un brio dans le premier arc qui ne se retrouvait pas. Là, pour le troisième cycle (avec Diggle aux dialogues, ce qui peut donner), les intrigues semblent se croiser, les fils vont se tricoter ensemble. Pour ceux qui ont suivi, ça risque de donner des trucs spectaculaires. À surveiller.

Troisième arc.
Les choses sérieuses se mettent en place : Redmond accepte la mission de Venise (qu’il refuse depuis presque une quinzaine d’épisodes), il essaie de doubler tout le monde, Cohen lui court après mais conserve une longueur de retard…
Question dialogues, c’est plus musclé. On a droit à une vision précise des relations tendues entre le père et le fils, et l’intrigue est au diapason, avec un petit côté rentre-dedans. L’adversaire est nettement plus inquiétant. Et la structure narrative recourt nettement moins souvent aux flash-back, ce qui n’est pas un mal. C’est plus linéaire, plus frontal.
Après, on n’échappe pas à quelques poncifs du genre (la coopération difficile entre services, les clichés du flic étranger…) et à quelques facilités dans les coups de théâtre et dans la caractérisation (ce que l’intrigue gagne en nervosité, elle le perd en originalité).
Graphiquement, le trait est toujours aussi joli (quelques belles cases de décor dans les récents épisodes), malgré une narration « widescreen » moderne assez plate. C’est chouette, mais c’est prévisible.
Enfin, on a l’impression qu’on s’approche d’une certaine résolution. Peu de personnages nouveaux (et ceux-là incarnent des idées et des subplots déjà posés depuis longtemps) et peu de rebondissements annoncés. Si la série devait se conclure sur un quatrième arc, cela ne m’étonnerait pas.
Néanmoins, ça reste un divertissement d’excellente qualité.
