Bouh, c’est intense. Deniz Camp & Alex Paknadel s’amusent avec le Temps et les Gardiens de la Galaxie de l’univers Ultimate 2.0, où on les découvre essayer de fusionner la ligne temporelle du Maker avec une ligne temporelle mourante, pour libérer la leur et ainsi restaurer leur Futur brillant. Cela échoue, et cela tue Gary (tenant du Gant d’Infini) et leur Phénix. Star-Lord le vit mal et semble s’exiler, alors que la Captain Marvel tente de convaincre des alliés surprenants (Kid Korvac, M.O.D.O.S. entre autres) pour poursuivre leur mantra : « tout sauver ». Elle regrette l’absence d’America Chavez, et poursuit dans le Temps les traces de leurs collègues Gardiens disparus. Ils découvrent Ultron-082 deux millions d’années dans le passé, et il décide de rester dans le Protocole Gardien pour suivre l’évolution et vérifier si le Maker a bien « corrompu » le passé comme leur futur. Ils découvrent que leur Nova Prime est mort dans le passé, et son héritage a été détourné par les Badoon. Tout cela les hante, Ultimate Nullifier veut détruire la ligne temporelle mais Captain Marvel l’en empêche, car ils ne sont pas des dieux. Ils récupèrent leur Daredevil, un Beyonder Without Fear qui absorbait les gens dans un Hyper-Cube Cosmique « pour les protéger », et ils l’aident à aller mieux après avoir subi son karaté 4D (WTF). Finalement, Ultron-082 les rappelle 4.000 ans après JC, révèle que les gens l’ont appelé Uatu et que le Maker n’a pas corrompu le passé : l’Humanité est brutale, il faut l’accepter. En parallèle, Star-Lord semble aller mieux en « vomissant » le Madrox, une colonie de micro-organismes qui forment une entité elle aussi proche du groupe. Les Gardiens se reprennent et poursuivent non plus une nostalgie inaccessible, mais leur désir de « tout sauver », ici et maintenant.
C’est intense, oui. Le scénario joue avec beaucoup d’éléments de SF voire Hard SF, et c’est assez intense à suivre, notamment parce que ces Gardiens sont encore assez peu creusés, avec donc peu d’éléments auxquels se raccrocher. C’est ambitieux mais prenant, mais « perché » quand même, avec ce Daredevil et cette version de Madrox. Graphiquement, Patrick Boutin / Phil Noto / Francesco Manna / Lee Ferguson / Javier Pulido se partagent l’ensemble, sans grande cohérence mais avec quelques jolies fulgurances.
Intense, perché, bordélique mais prenant et excitant en soi.
