Avant de s’installer sur sa première série régulière chez Marvel (The Illuminatis), le scénariste Joshua Williamson imagine cinq versions alternatives de la saga Infinity dans une nouvelle collection de What If ?
En octobre, le premier What If ? Infinity - Thanos sera illustré par Mike Henderson et verra le Titan Fou rejoindre les Vengeurs. Le suivant, What If ? Infinity - Inhumans, présentera un monde dirigé par le roi Black Bolt sous le crayon de Riley Rossmo. Avec l’artiste Mike Norton, les lecteurs assisteront à la chute de la célèbre équipe et à la reprise du flambeau par les X-Men dans What If ? Infinity - Avengers. What If ? Infinity - Guardians of the Galaxy lancera l’équipe de Star-Lord aux trousses de ceux qui protègent Thanos, les Illuminatis, avec Jason Copeland au dessin. Et pour finir, Williamson et l’artiste Goran Sudzuka ré-instituent Norman Osborn à la tête du Hammer dans What If ? Infinity - Dark Reign.
Le scénariste Joe Keatinge s’était occupé d’un projet similaire en 2014 portant sur la saga Age of Ultron (publié en France dans Marvel Universe #7).
