In this second arc in particular we’re going to slow down a tad and veer away from the breakneck action movie kind of story that we’ve seen in this first story. So far we’ve ended on a lot of ellipsis and I’d like to have things punctuate differently in this next set of issues. That’s really in an effort to spend a little more time with the characters we do have, in addition to some of the other students and faculty who’ll return at some point soon. But that by no means excludes the chances we’ll see the more of the larger Marvel Universe. In particular we’ll be seeing Daredevil pretty soon, as Logan’s going to need his help putting some things in order.

I’m pretty excited about that, as I’ve always loved that character and I think we found a really naturally way to make him work in the story we’re telling. With any of these cameos, even the craziest of them, I don’t want to force things that aren’t a natural progression of where we’re heading.
The second arc is much, much more character centric. As we spiral rapidly towards Logan’s death, it just felt like we should slow down and take a closer look at the impact all these changes have already had. The questions I wanted to pose in the first half of the year had a lot to do with what Logan’s long term impact on the school and these kids might mean moving forward. The second arc is more of a look at what he currently means to the school, and it to him. Legacy is all well and good, but Logan knows he’s in rough shape… and living in the present has become a very big deal very quickly.

But it will also be in some ways a lot more fun. We’ve of course got Daredevil in #7, and issue #8 is Logan and Storm on a date night. Then issue #9 is Quentin Quire’s birthday, and a party he and Logan will not soon forget. From there… wait and see…
Le scénariste Jason Latour parle du futur de la série Wolverine & The X-men après la mort de Logan:
We catch up to things around issue #9, which is one big final showdown between Logan and Quire. One that doesn’t go so well for either of them. Issues #10 and #11 feature Melita Garner visiting the campus to finish the book on Wolverine that we saw her start in issue #7. These are two gloriously drawn jam issues that come of the heels of « Death of Wolverine » and really are intended as a remembrance of Logan’s life at the school. I don’t think anyone needs to fear wading into those issues expecting 50 pages of superheroes crying. There will be some heavy heartedness, sure, but in large it’s a celebration of the character.

We’ve got some amazing artists on these books: Robbi Rodriguez, Jake Wyatt, Kris Anka, Declan Shalvey, James Harren, Jim Rugg, Chris Brunner and hell even I’m jumping in to play. They’re shaping up really nicely and I think they’ll be the kinds of evergreen comics that even people who don’t read our book, or current X-Men comics might enjoy as just as a way of reconnecting and remembering a couple great decades of Wolverine comics.
