I think it has been similar to AVENGERS VS. X-MEN but a little more relaxed in that we’re all just writing issues of our own book instead of all of us writing one series. In some sense, with WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN, I have to put aside some of the usual cast members. Especially with the first issue, as it does not take place at the Jean Grey School. It’s not the typical setting for the book. You don’t see many of my students running around. Some of them may pop up over the course of Battle of the Atom but they’re not the main focus of the story. In some sense, a lot of it is writing characters from the other books, which is fun. In my first issue I got to write Brian [Bendis’] Uncanny X-Men. I got to write his kids and Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Magneto. That’s fun; you get to play with those toys that you don’t play with on a monthly basis. This stuff is all outlined, we do a lot of phone calls, we had a retreat.

To me, the best part about all of this is working with Jason and Brian, something I’ve not really done before. The characters, sure, but that’s not the big draw for me. This is my first real collaborative event, and I respect both of those guys’ work, so I enjoyed seeing and learning how one of these things gets put together. As I answer these questions, I’m finished writing the event, I’m all done, so I can look back and recognize it was a wild ride, a bit hairy at times with all the moving parts and I can really understand the work involved. I don’t think any editor works as hard as a Marvel editor organizing an event like this. And this was a small one!

franchement, j’aime beaucoup ce que je vois là.

si la série continue aussi bien qu’elle a commencé, je pense qu’elle va vraiment s’imposer dans mes lectures mensuelles avec les vengeurs de hickman et les x men et thor de aaron, talonné par le spidey de slott dont j’ai toujours autant de critique à faire quant à sa vision de spidey, mais dont j’apprécie la joie évidente et communicable qu’il a d’écrire cette série.

Pourquoi c’est le retour des ceintures des 90’s ?

C’était quand même sacrément laborieux Battle of the Atom. Vendu sur une idée de Aaaron, il faudra quand même souffrir 5 chapitres de diarrhée verbale Bendisienne et attendre le passage silencieux de Wood, qui servira, au mieux, d’intermédiaire entre Bendis et Aaron, au pire, à rien, avant de toucher du doigt un vague évènement temporel assez mal troussé, blindé de twists convenus (oh, le S.H.I.E.L.D. qu’il est vilain pas bô!) et de caractérisation absurde d’une flopée de nouvelles/anciennes têtes.

Le passage de flambeau au sujet de Kitty Pride entre Bendis et Aaron est, à ce titre, effarant. En deux ans, le personnage aura connu une reconversion humoristique de directrice bien négociée, avant de sombrer dans les méandres de la complexité morale nombriliste à deux sous de Bendis qui fait clairement passer le personnage pour une petite connasse sans un gramme de jugeote.

[size=85]Battle of the Atom; c’est ce qui arrive quand une idée (peut être bonne, on ne le saura jamais) tombe entre les mains d’un scénariste dont la capacité à écrire une mauvaise série est égale à sa production de masse. Le projet n’avait aucune chance.[/size]
