1938-2018 : BON ANNIVERSAIRE SUPERMAN !

Là où on voit que c’est un homme qui a fait le design.

Il ne faut pas qu’elle lève les bras.

Ouais, elle ne peut même pas boire un coup au gala des Damnés.

Tiens, je ne trouve plus qui c’est, par contre.

Action Comics 600 cover art penciled and inked by John Byrne. 1988

“Ex Machina” from Christmas With the Super-Heroes #2
Writer/Penciler : Paul Chadwick
Inker : John Nyberg
Colourist : Tom McCraw
Letterer : John Costanza

This story is in my opinion arguably the greatest Superman story of all time. It’s certainly in the Top 2 at least, no question. In eight pages, Chadwick takes this huge monolithic character that movie execs and ignorant people can’t seem to relate to or understand, and boils him down to his core essence in such a simple, perfect manner. It’s such a wonderful story because Superman saves a life just by being there, just by being a great person rather than some mythical superhero. There is no supervillain to punch, there is just a normal human problem that happens all of the time and Superman simply listens and offers anything he can to help. No matter what the problem is, Superman HELPS. He changes lives. He inspires. He makes the world a better place. Perfect.
