Cette couverture (dont j’apprécie beaucoup le design : ça flatte le vieux croulant que je suis) arbore une accroche que j’ai également vu souvent déclinée dans les Wolverine and the X-Men d’Aaron. Pris d’un doute et me disant que ça faisait référence à quelque chose que je connais sans réellement mettre le doigt dessus, j’ai quand même fait une rapide recherche, et j’ai retrouvé la couverture d’Uncanny X-Men #139, l’expression étant formulée à l’attention de Kitty Pryde.

C’est un peu comme « To me, my X-Men! » ou encore les variations sur « genesis » (« second », « third », jusqu’à « deadly » et sans doute au-delà), ça devient une partie de la tradition et du folklore des mutants.

Au moins sur cette couverture, il y a la mention « after Simonson », alors que sur une couverture récente de Great Lakes Avengers, le « after McFarlane » n’est pas spécifié, même si elle a tout d’une swipe.

Ah tiens, en cherchant un brin, je note que Claremont l’a encore recyclé, sous une forme plus courte, pour la couverture du numéro 219 (dessinée par l’excellent Bret Blevins dont nous parlons à côté).
Je n’avais pas pris conscience que la blague récurrente remontait aussi loin.
