Bah là, dans le numéro 9, y a un retour inattendu d’une idée amenée par Conway, spectaculaire !

J’aime beaucoup cette série jusque-là. Le format hebdomadaire est très bien utilisé: il se passe pas forcément beaucoup de choses, mais chaque épisode amène une avancée, un rebondissement. Et l’intrigue globale me donne vraiment envie d’en savoir davantage.

Ian bertram, chris burhnam, tomeu morey c’est l’ heritage de quitely et si on remonte à moebius, on peut incorporer andre lima araujo et sans doute beaucoup d’autre.
c’est vraiment appréciable.
Très très grosse surprise que ce numéro… je ne connaissais pas ce Ian BERTRAM, et sur le coup j’ai cru y voir du Rafael GRAMPA, un des artistes que j’aimerai le plus voir sur des grosses séries… Du coup, là, je me surprend à découvrir un artiste au style proche, dans la filiation de QUITELY, et ça me réjouit au plus haut point ! Surtout sur une série comme Eternal, ça me surprend vraiment !
Nemo cite également Tomeu MOREY… ce nom ne me dit rien, je vais jeter un oeil immédiatement 
Ian Bertram, il a fait un des récits d’anniversaire de Detective Comics #27, celui du vieux Batman qui souffle ses bougies. Il y mélange des hommages à Frank Miller et à Moebius. C’est sympa, un peu bancal, mais plein d’idées.
Après, c’est ce qui m’amène à exprimer un avis un contre-courant de l’enthousiasme ambiant. Cet épisode est à l’image des quelques planches qu’on voit ici. C’est sympathique, mais le niveau n’est pas si impressionnant. Bertram a visiblement des idées de mise en scène, il sait jouer avec les symétries, avec l’alternance de gros plans et de plans éloignés, avec les constructions en deux tiers / un tiers. Mais question dessin, ça ne suit pas. On a régulièrement des cases mal cadrées avec des personnages écrasés dans les coins, une maîtrise plus qu’hésitante des perspectives, des anatomies complètement raides et des attitudes pas naturelles… bref, tout un tas de défaut de dessins que ne compense pas la volonté de raconter de manière originale.
Copier Moebius et Quitely, c’est bien joli. Mais Moebius et Quitely, eux, maîtrisent véritablement le dessin. Là, ça fait quand même gravement amateur.
Reste que Chris Burnham, ses premiers épisodes montraient également de graves défauts techniques et académiques, et qu’il a progressé à grande vitesse. On peut imaginer la même chose pour Bertram. Et le lui souhaiter.
Quant à Tomeu Morey, je ne connais de lui que ses travaux couleurs, souvent sur Tony Daniel. Je ne savais pas qu’il dessinait.
