We’ve talked about what a great big gaming geek I am, you know. One of my all-time favorite RPGs is Call of Cthulhu, so take from that what you will. I think if you look back at some of the stuff that we broadly label as the crime ouvre, there are certainly elements of the supernatural at work. You can see it in the original Detective Comics run, it’s certainly evident in Five Books of Blood and “Pipeline,” so I don’t know. I’ve always found some very compelling earth to be tilled in that particular genre. There’s always been something about those kinds of stories that’s appealed to me. I love The Omen, just as a piece of plotting. I love the Marlowe play Faust.

un premier numéro plutôt pas mal (l’incipit est vraiment bluffant).
Côté dessins, c’est vraiment très chouette, je ne connaissais pas Nicola Scott mais en plus d’être une jeune femme très séduisante (oui cela n’a aucun rapport avec Black Magick ) son travail est de toute beauté.Chiara Arena réalisent aussi un très beau travail sur la colorisation, qui dispense une ambiance tout à fait en accord avec ce qui se déroule sous nos yeux.mainstream .
Greg Rucka , même si je crois n’aime pas trop qu’on le dise, met en scène une héroïne tout ce qu’il y a de réussie, ou du moins qui laisse entrevoir un fort potentiel.
Un premier numéro captivant de bout en bout ; reste qu’une fois que l’on sait à qui on a à faire, l’intérêt va-t-il persister ?
Je rappelle à toutes fins utiles que le mot magick orthographié avec « ck » concerne la magie, la vraie magie celle de Crowley , de **Moore ** ou d’Austin Spare , pas la prestidigitation.
Indéniablement Greg Rucka sait écrire des séries policières ; et si on ne le savait pas, ce deuxième numéro nous le prouve.
Rowan Black est indubitablement un personnage intéressant.
Tout ça me semble de bon augure pour la suite.

Well, she definitely claims Renee Montoya as a mother. I don’t think there’s any question about that. I wanted to write a cop, and at the time when I came up with the idea, Renee was still very fresh in my mind. Not that she’s ever been terribly far from it. I think that’s part of it.
There were some things in design early on that I knew I wanted. I knew I didn’t want her to be wispy or frail. I wanted her to be a “big girl” with a physical presence. A lot of it came out of research beyond that. And also some of what I knew would be her conflict, that she was the inheritor of this very long tradition, and her difficulties with that. It’s a mantle she’s not comfortable with.

Technically, the end of the arc is issue #10 . Issue #5 ends with an intermission for Act One. Act One breaks into two halves of 5 issues each. Issue #5 brings us to a resolution point, but continues into issue #6 .
Well, if you’ve been reading the back matter, you have a really good idea of what it means for Aira to arrive. Aira is the society of witch hunters. They exist to protect the “will of man.” The greatest crime they perceive is the theft of the will. They acknowledge that magick exists and they acknowledge that magick can be used for good and moral ends. But the moment magick is used to steal the will of another to make them do something that is not their choice — to alter that reality — then that is the bridge too far. The witch must end.

Très content de voir la série faire enfin son grand retour ! Et de plus avec un épisode qui étend sa mythologie de façon assez fascinante. La lecture de ce #6 a donc été doublement appréciée.
