Natasha Romanoff et Clint Barton seront à nouveau réunis pour une mini-série Black Widow & Hawkeye qui sera publiée à partir de mars 2024. Le titre sera écrit par Stephanie Phillips (Contest of Chaos) et dessiné par Paolo Villanelli (Star Wars : Bounty Hunters).
Celebrating 60 action-packed years of Black Widow and Hawkeye, this new chapter in the pair’s storied legacy will be told by rising Marvel stars, writer Stephanie Phillips, known for her acclaimed work on Contest of Chaos and Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Paolo Villanelli, currently delivering cosmic brilliance in Captain Marvel: Dark Tempest. The four-issue limited series will both dive into the duo’s history of secrets and espionage while playing off recent developments including Natasha Romanoff’s recent bonding with a symbiote!
THE EYES OF A HAWK AND THE VENOM OF A WIDOW! Even when Black Widow and Hawkeye had no one to trust, they still had each other – even though their paths sometimes diverged. So when Clint Barton is accused of a rogue assassination attempt that puts the U.S. and Madripoor at odds, a symbiote-equipped Natasha Romanoff thinks nothing of coming to his aid. But as echoes of their past ripple into the present, it will take all their faith in each other – and the lessons learned along the way – to protect their futures.
“I love getting the chance to dig deep with Natasha Romanov and Clint Barton to tell a fast-paced spy story that celebrates their 60th anniversary,” Phillips shared. “Nothing is as it seems, and I’m having a ton of fun writing these characters. Not to mention they both look great for 60.”

Pas mal. Stephanie Phillips lance une mini-série sur Natasha & Clint, avec une narration éclatée sur plusieurs périodes temporelles ramassées. On apprend ainsi que, plus d’un jour auparavant, un Ministre russe en déplacement à New York a été tué par une flèche violette. Depuis, des assassins russes traquent Hawkeye, l’un semble l’avoir tué, et Natasha remonte la piste. Elle échange avec Bobbi Morse, interdite d’agir par la CIA, alors qu’elle s’était rapprochée de Clint dans les Thunderbolts de New York. Natasha, avec son symbiote, retrouve un Clint blessé, attaqué par une autre assassin. Clint rejette l’idée de fuir, évoque ses doutes sur leur relation (ils ne se voient que lorsque l’un est en danger) et… admet avoir tiré sur le Ministre russe !
Pas mal, oui. Stephanie Phillips gère bien sa narration éclatée, sans trop ménager le suspense, mais sans trop en dire tout de suite. L’ensemble est assez classique, déjà-vu, mais c’est fait solidement, correctement, et ça rend la lecture efficace. J’aime bien les retours de Clint sur sa relation avec Natasha, et Paolo Villanelli livre des planches elles aussi correctes. Sans briller, mais sans fauter.
Un début plutôt solide et intriguant, même si ça reste très classique.

Sympathique, sans plus. Stephanie Phillips enchaîne avec un #2 vite lu, où autant l’instinct de Natasha que son symbiote confirment que Clint lent en disant avoir tué l’officiel russe. Elle veut le faire parler à Madripoor, il veut partir, un sniper le touche avec du poison, Natasha chasse ce dernier et demande au symbiote d’aider Clint malgré les doutes et risques. Des flashbacks rappellent que Clint est régulièrement sous-estimé, ce qu’il utilise à dessein, alors que le vilain principal est révélé être Damon Dran.
Ça se lit bien, mais sans s’emballer. La scénariste gère bien ses dialogues et personnages, mais abuse des flashbacks explicatifs qui valorisent Clint et son goût pour être sous-estimé. Le vilain principal est peu connu, et Paolo Villanelli propose des planches correctes, mais sans briller.
Pas mauvais, pas éclatant et vite lu, vite oublié.
