Après avoir consolidé la franchise Doctor Who à travers ses trois séries phares - consacrées aux 10ème Docteur, 11ème et 12èmeDocteurs - puis avec la saga évènement The Four Doctors et les deux mini-séries sur les 8ème et 9ème Docteurs, l’éditeur Titan Comics lance une première mini-série s’intéressant à la période dite « classique » (entendre celle diffusée entre 1963 et 1989) avec, en tête d’affiche, le Docteur le plus populaire, le 4ème qui fut incarné par l’acteur Tom Baker entre 1974 et 1981.
Pendant cette aventure en 5 chapitres intitulée Gaze of the Medusa, le Docteur fera équipe avec l’une des compagnes les plus populaires de la série (là encore !) puisqu’il s’agit de nulle autre que Sarah Jane Smith, l’une des deux seules a avoir repris son rôle après le revival de 2005 (avec Jo Grant). Ils auront affaire à une armée d’aveugles dirigée par une mystérieuse femme, au Scryclops et à quelque chose d’extra-terrestre dont la voix porte depuis la préhistoire.
La mini-série Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor a été confiée aux scénaristes Gordon Rennie & Emma Beeby, deux habitués des productions radiophoniques sur le Seigneur du Temps, et au dessinateur Brian Williamson. Le premier numéro sort en mars 2016.
