Deadly Class writer Rick Remender is teaming up with artist Brett Parson, colorist Moreno Dinisio, and co-writer and Emmy Award-winning comedian Brian Posehn for a new ongoing series from his Giant Generator line at Image Comics. Slated for release starting in April 2024, the new series, Grommets, will follow two outcast best friends living in the suburbs of Sacramento in 1984.
Grommets is a coming-of-age tale that tackles trauma, found family, and mental health. Despite not belonging to the “in” crowd, the main characters find a home in punk rock and skateboard culture during the era that made skateboarding an international phenomenon. The series’ title hails from skater slang: “Grommet” is commonly used to refer to young skaters or surfers who are up-and-coming in their sport.
