Après s’être éloigné des plateaux de tournage pendant 3 ans suite à l’échec de Red State, Kevin Smith accumule les projets. Il développe parallèlement sa trilogie canadienne (débutée avec Tusk et Yoga Hosers) ainsi qu’un retour au « Viewaskewniverse », sa série de films basée au New Jersey et popularisée par le célèbre duo Jay & Silent Bob.
Avant un Clerks 3 déjà écrit, Kevin Smith fera un retour au centre commercial avec Mallrats 2 (Les Glandeurs en V.F.) dont plusieurs retours ont déjà été officialisés :
Stan Lee, Jason Mewes et Michael Rooker
ainsi que Shannon Doherty (Brenda) et bien évidemment, Jason Lee (Brodie).
En 2002, Jay et Silent Bob partaient pour Hollywood pour empêcher le tournage de Bluntman & Chronic, l’adaptation des aventures des personnages de comic-book qu’ils ont inspirés.
17 ans plus tard après Jay & Silent Bob contre-attaquent, rebelote ! Les deux glandeurs professionnels sont de nouveau sur les routes pour empêcher le tournage du reboot de Bluntman & Chronic.
Après l’échec des projets Mallrats 2 et Clerks 3, Kevin Smith a finalement officialisé le retour de son univers avec un post instagram qui annonce le début du tournage de Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. Une date importante pour Kevin Smith puisqu’elle marque aussi le premier anniversaire du jour où il a survécu à une attaque cardiaque.

I couldn’t think of a better scene with which to start the shoot than the return to the Mall with Brodie Bruce. The three of us gathered for a couple hours last night to run the lines and realized we first rehearsed together waaaaay back in the mid-90’s. It may be 24 years later and we may have 6 kids between us, but Jay, Lee and me partied like it was 1995, giggling while adding jokes and finding inflections. The Oscars were on in the background during our practice and I couldn’t help but feel relief when the “In Memoriam” montage ended and I wasn’t in it. We picked 2/25 as the Reboot start date intentionally, to celebrate the fact that I did not become Silent Bob forever 365 days ago. But after a blissful couple hours of making pretend with my friends on the set of my 14th film, I’m starting to think I did die in that operating room after all. SNOOGANS! Here’s a first look at @jayandsilentbobreboot, courtesy of our genius @dpronlevy and our master stills artist @kylebonokaplan. On this adventure, Silent Bob’s dressed pretty much the same as he’s been in #Dogma through #clerks2, but Jay’s outfit has changed a bit, including his Ranger Danger t-shirt designed by Captain RibMan (the artist who created my Fat Man logo). Years back when I was working on Clerks III, Ribman and I came up with a slew of Ranger Danger comiccovers to flesh out the world of the flick and make it seem like Ranger Danger had been around as long as Superman and the Fantastic Four. When Clerks III went away, the artwork sat dormant on my laptop for years. But when Reboot started taking serious shape, I blew the dust off the Ranger Danger artwork and put it to work all over Brodie’s Secret Stash. But I saved the Dark Knight-ish Ranger Danger: Requiem shirt for Jay to wear throughout the flick because in the world of our movie, Ranger Danger: Requiem is a gritty, rebooted version of a childhood superhero fave. Today marks the end of Week One of filming, and what a wonderful week it’s been! We’ve already shot a fist fulla cameos and @JayMewes is CRUSHING his return to the role that made him famous! Ah d’accord ! Alors autant pour Endgame pourquoi pas, vu que le film parodie le genre et tout ça, par contre pour Once upon a time je vois pas trop le rapport avec la choucroute…
Perso, le cinoche de Kevin Smith me déçoit depuis quelques temps (j’ai détesté Yoga Hosers par exemple). Mais pour celui-là, j’en serais quand même…j’aime encore beaucoup sa première partie de carrière, son « viewaskewniverse » (du nom de sa boîte de prod’), de Clerks I à II en passant par Mallrats, Méprise Multiple, Dogma et Jay & Bob contre-attaquent. Je les ai souvent regardé à l’époque et ça sera sympa (en tout cas je l’espère) de s’y replonger et de retrouver Jay et Silent Bob…
J’ai un gros faible pour clerks 2 surtout en connaissant clerks ou on retrouve ses employés qui faisait un job de merde, au début de leur vie et qui au final 20 ans après se rendent compte qu’ils sont devenus vieux et qu’ils font toujours un job de merde, voir on une vie de merde, cette reflexion sur la jeunesse perdue est particulièrement touchante je trouve.
Je suis d’accord avec le doc pour dire que sa seconde partie de carrière hors viewaskewnverse n’est pas terrible. Que ce soit son Top Cops, Red Taste (quoique celui là encore pas trop mal). J’ai détesté son Tusk et pas encore vu Yoga Yoser.
Par contre, je sais qu’il est nul, mais j’aime bien son Père et Fille et je trouvais très bon son Zack & Miry font un porno, même si ce n’est pas un film que j’ai revu.

J’ai revu plusieurs fois Père et fille. Ce n’est peut-être pas un très bon film, mais je le trouve touchant…à chaque fois c’est pareil, il me fait sourire et à d’autres moments, je suis vraiment ému…et ça fait oublier les défauts…
