Après 33 ans de bons et loyaux services, dont 20 en tant qu’éditrice exécutive, Karen Berger quitte Vertigo. Il faut dire qu’avec le pillage opéré par le New 52 (Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Constantine) et la pause prolongée de American Vampire, Karen Berger est devenue peu a peu la Reine d’un royaume de cendre prêt a être dévasté.
Toujours étant, Karen Berger laisse le souvenir d’une maison d’édition libre et indépendante où elle y collaborera avec les plus grands, ouvrant la porte des USA à la première (et la seconde !) vague des scénaristes British.
On notera son implication sur plusieurs des séries marquantes de ces 30 dernières années dont SANDMAN, HELLBLAZER, SWAMP THING, V FOR VENDETTA, FABLES, PREACHER, THE INVISIBLES, 100 BULLETS, Y - THE LAST MAN et AMERICAN VAMPIRE.

Elle va s’occuper de ses projets parallèles qu’elle développe ou qui perdurent depuis quelques années, enfin bref elle se retire juste de l’univers des comics, mais pas de l’univers des arts. En tout cas on ne peut que la remercier pour le travail qu’elle a fait et lui souhaiter une bonne continuation.
Shelly Bond qui était responsable de titres comme Fables ou The Invisibles sera en charge à partir du mois d’avril de la gamme Vertigo, une bonne nouvelle quand on voit son excellent travail sur de nombreux titres dont elle fut ou est en charge. On peut dire que Vertigo n’est pas enterré, bien au contraire.
