Très déçu par un #1 mal fichu et déséquilibré, agréablement surpris par un #2 dynamique mais avec un cliffhanger facile, je suis impatient de lire la suite.

C’est quand même pas passionnant - d’autant plus que Dynamite a annoncé le lancement d’une nouvelle série Flash Gordon, qui verra le héros accompagné des Phantoms et de Mandrake affronter Ming. Du coup, l’issue de King’s Quest est déjà révélée (statu-quo).
Si le récit a su se reprendre après un premier numéro catastrophique, le #3, qui est un gigantesque flashback expliquant pourquoi Dale Arden agit ainsi, patine allègrement.
J’ai hâte que ça finisse, pour que Jeff Parker puisse reprendre, avec Flash Gordon, le très bon travail débuté dans King’s Watch.
Ah, j’ai été (presque) mauvaise langue. King’s Quest #4 est un numéro très dynamique, avec de bons dialogues, de bons moments, et de très belles planches.
Trahison, rebondissements, évolution - tout est bon. Tout serait presque bon… si Ben Acker n’en profitait pas pour modifier en profondeur le Phantom, mon personnage fétiche, en lui donnant… des pouvoirs.
Et oui.
Même s’il y a un précédent, la série animée Defenders of the Earth, où le Phantom pouvait avoir une super-force, je continue de tiquer, car ça n’est clairement pas l’esprit du personnage.
Bref. King’s Quest s’améliore, mais égratigne au passage mon héros. Je ne sais pas vraiment quoi en penser…
