Remplacée par Genevieve Valentine sur Catwoman, la scénariste Ann Nocenti change de décors avec la nouvelle série Klarion the Witch Boy qu’elle écrit pour le dessinateur Trevor McCarthy.
Klarion le jeune sorcier (personnage créé par Jack Kirby en 1973) sera cette fois-ci accompagné de nouveaux « amis » dont la jeune Zell et ses cheveux magiques; la plante Weed; l’occultiste Rasp (descendant de Rasputin); et Noah & Pipper, deux puissants sorciers prêts a sauver le Monde ou, dans le cas contraire, à le quitter au plus vite via une porte dimensionnelle. Leur première épreuve ? L’émergence de techno-sorciers et une scission au sein du monde de la magie en plein centre de Gotham, rien que ça.
C’est rigolo, Ann Nocenti avait écrit la série régulière « Kid Eternity » dans la foulée d’une mini de Grant Morrison qui avait exhumée ce vieux perso des sixties, si mes souvenirs sont bons. Ici c’est un peu pareil : à croire que les éditeurs pensent que Nocenti et Morrison ont des points communs, niveau écriture et thématique…
Autre détail amusant : un perso qui s’appelle Weed, ce n’st guère étonnant pour Nocenti, qui fut la rédactrice en chef de…« High Times », le magazine préféré de l’internationale des fumeurs de ganja !!

Un premier épisode très rempli à tel point que je me demande si Nocenti a conscience du format. J’ai eu l’impression qu’elle écrivait au fil de l’eau en oubliant qu’il faut remplir 22 pages avec du rythme.
Elle a sûrement beaucoup de choses à raconter.
Si mon premier avis est positif, c’est aussi en raison du boulot « WilliamsIIIien » de McCarthy très en forme.
