Mattel and Dark Horse Comics Announce “Masters of the Universe: The Sword of Flaws”
From the writer and artist behind Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull comes an all-new He-Man comic series!
Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), a leading global toy and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics, today unveiled the new Masters of the Universe: The Sword of Flaws , a new four-issue miniseries firmly rooted in the classic universe continuity of Masters of the Universe . The series will begin Wednesday, September 24, 2025 with Issue #1 now available to pre-order from participating local comic shops for $4.99.
The new series is written by New York Times bestselling writer Tim Seeley, illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artist Freddie E. Williams II (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull, Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle ), colored by Andrew Dalhouse (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull, Space Ghost ), and lettered by AndWorld Design (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull, Canto: A Place Like Home ). Issue #1 will feature cover art by Williams and a variant by Tim Seeley with Brad Simpson.

An ancient artifact has been unearthed from the highest peaks of Eternia. Teela assembles an expedition to investigate, while He-Man and Orko seek answers from the Sorceress. Mattel has announced that Masters of the Universe is officially becoming an ongoing comic series with a new title: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe , produced in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics. The series will carry forward the storyline introduced in Sword of Flaws, launching its next chapter with a new arc titled The Battle of Snake Mountain.
