Y a tout ce que j’aime : de l’action, de l’humour, du sourire, de la continuité, peut-être un côté un brin méta (la narration traite les lecteurs de « métamaniacs » : ça m’a fait dresser l’oreille), donc fatalement, ce cocktail de bonne humeur rétro m’a plu.

J’aimerais aimer mais j’ai trop peu d’acquis sur Metamorpho pour être emballé.
Je trouve qu’Ewing construit le trio / quartet de base à la sauce classique. Je ne sais quoi en penser : ça entre dans sa logique rétro, mais j’aurais aimé une approche un peu plus novatrice, qui montre un peu d’évolution par rapport aux sixties. Après, c’est peut-être une fausse piste qui masque un truc, mais il ne me semble pas qu’il y ait d’indice de ce genre, à part la page « Jump City » qui nous place dans un nulle part sans temporalité : mais je ne vois pas où ça pourrait nous mener.
Du coup, il me semble qu’Ewing ne nous demande pas une connaissance pointue du personnage, seulement les bases (qui se résument, somme toute, à la page de présentation), mais je flaire un twist, sans pouvoir l’identifier (y en a-t-il un seulement ?). J’ai l’impression d’être dans un épisode du 1963 d’Alan Moore, ça me charme énormément et ça me convient très bien pour l’instant.
À voir où ça nous mène à long terme.

Très chouette, mais le final n’étant jamais sorti, qui devait opposer les héros rétro aux justiciers modernes d’Image dans une sorte de commentaires de l’évolution du genre, ça ne dépasse pas le stade de l’hommage. Brillant, mais il manque un twist.
Ewing nous prépare-t-il un twist à sa sauce, une surprise, faut voir.
