A la lecture, il persiste le sentiment que Tom King a écrit un roman qu’il a ensuite découpé en bédé. Est-ce que l’on appelle un « roman graphique »?

Tom King continue de remonter le fil de ce fatal duo qu’est le clône de Steve Dikto et The Kid. A près l’origine du Kid (Amérique profonde et violente, délaissée par l’Économie), c’est l’origine de ce couple qui décrite et sa formation à travers une romance (Fan-Artiste).
Et le tout continue de prendre sous fond presque invisible de Watchmen et magnifiquement dessiné par Jorge Fornès.
Très bel épisode.
Ah oui, je viens de finir de vous lire et… Franchement, ça me dit de le lire en VF ! Ça doit être quelque chose…
Je crois surtout que Tom King (a priori, des news pour un nouveau projet chez DC devraient arriver) écrit un anti-« before Watchmen ». Il ne met rien en perspective finalement sur l’œuvre de Moore et Gibbons. Il a une mise à distance fine.
C’est là qu’il est fort.

Tom King c’est l’auteur engagé sur douze épisodes mini. 
J’aime beaucoup le récit tout en respect et très éloigné de la maxi-série originelle.
On est dans l’esprit d’un spin-off entre la TV et le book.

Oulala. L’épisode est assez incroyable et diablement « méta ». Tom King invite Franck Miller dans le monde de Watchmen!!
Mais à quoi s’amuse donc Tom King et Jorge Fornès? Ou s’amusent-ils de nous?
Tout est possible. L’équipe continue de creuser l’histoire de ce duo de tueurs très spécial. Vaudou, Manhattan, des bandes vidéos, et si on devenait tous fous…
Non c est pour l instant aussi bien que la serie tv… le 1 paraît sans direction mais après…

As the detective digs deeper into the mystery behind Rorschach and his sidekick, the story becomes about not what they wanted to do but why they started on their murderous path. As more witnesses emerge, the stranger Laura’s history is revealed to be. Tough times made her want to kill a presidential candidate, and she did a lot of damage herself when fighting back.

Where Laura learned to shoot, a place where she not only learned to kill but also has killed, and where she brought Rorschach to turn him into an assassin as well. As the timelines crisscross, the man trying to undo this mess only falls deeper into it.

L’épisode que tu cites avait tout pour être casse-gueule (triple narration, etc…) et ça se lit tranquille malgré le mystère épais autour de ces deux personnages « Kid » et « Dikto ».
Et si le mystère n’était pas cette tentative de meurtre ratée mais l’enquêteur lui-même…
Tom King écrit encore un épisode à la narration léchée avec un Fornes au top. On sent une vraie « osmose » créative entre les deux compères.
On se rapproche du dénouement mais ça tire en longueur tout de même. Bref, lire King est toujours meilleur en « one block » qu’en mensuel.
Who would have benefited from the assassination of a presidential candidate? Rorschach and Laura didn’t operate in a vacuum. Their actions touched a lot of different people. In his continued efforts to unravel how the pair got from their stark beginnings to almost killing Governor Turley and derailing an election, the detective on the case starts to look at what other law enforcement agencies have uncovered, and any potential links back to the Oval Office. To do that, it’s time to relive the crime that almost was.
Things are heating up as this miniseries set in the Watchmen universe nears its conclusion!

Tom King m’a perdu. C’est même frustrant car tu vois qu’il veut chiader sa narration entre des personnages d’époques différentes discutent de l’intrigue. Mais sur douze épisodes, faut lire d’un bloc.
Ce que je ferais bien sûr le mois prochain.
J’espère qu’Human Target sera plus accessible et moins tiré (bref, que cela soit géré en arcs).
Je ne le tenterais même pas, Human Target.
