Oversized prestige format miniseries from the mind of Garth Ennis!
1944: Imperial Japan still commands most of Asia. Determined to regain their hold on Burma, the British send a special forces unit – the Chindits – deep behind Japanese lines. Their mission is to attack the enemy wherever they find him. What awaits them is a nightmare equal to anything the Second World War can deliver.
Colonel Keith Crosby and Doctor Alistair Whitamore have old scores to settle, being veterans of the long retreat through Burma two years before. But neither the jungle nor the foe have gotten any less savage, and when the shooting starts and the Japanese descend on the smaller British force in their midst, every man will be tested to his limit.
Writer Garth Ennis (The Boys, Preacher, DREAMING EAGLES) and artist PJ Holden (The Stringbags, World of Tanks, Judge Dredd) present a tale of hellish jungle warfare, as apparently civilized human beings descend into an apocalyptic heart of darkness.

THE LION AND THE EAGLE #2 hits your local comic book store March 23rd.

About the issue:
The battle begins in earnest as the British unleash a holocaust of high explosive on their enemy, and fanatical Japanese courage comes face to face with the fury of the Gurkhas. But a change in command sees the Chindits’ mission change from offense to defense, and soon the British unit is surrounded — and fighting for survival against increasingly heavy odds.

The “oversized prestige format miniseries” is by writer Garth Ennis and artist PJ Holden, with colors by Matt Milla, and letters by Rob Steen. The main cover is by Tim Bradstreet, and the incentive variant is by Keith Burns.

Stuck on their desolate hill in the jungle, surrounded and outnumbered by Japanese forces, the British dig in for the long haul – but events elsewhere conspire to rob them of supplies and resources they so desperately need. As the perimeter shrinks under relentless enemy assault, more and more of the men reach their breaking point – and not just on the front line, with even medical personnel forced into almost impossible decisions. With no hope of relief in sight, how long can Crosby, Whitamore and Singh preserve their force against annihilation?

Oversized Prestige Format Miniseries from the Mind of Garth Ennis!

At last, the Chindits are on the move, although not at all in the direction they were hoping. As vengeful Japanese forces descend on the dwindling little band, British and Gurkha alike must fight like animals to survive. And to Alistair’s horror, Keith must now make the most terrible decision of all.
