Ni les auteurs, ni la compo’, ni l’astérisque ne donnent envie. Dommage de casser le run de Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly sur plusieurs mini-séries pour ça.
A partir de maintenant, les Thunderbolts risquent bien de toujours avoir un astérisque avec une Black Widow et Bucky comme chefs.

Bof, bof. Sam Humphrie lance une nouvelle série Thunderb… pardon, « New Avengers » pour surfer sur le film et bénéficier du travail récent de Collin Kelly & Jackson Lanzing sur les Thunderbolts et Bucky. Et bon, ça fonctionne moyennement : alors que les deux scénaristes avaient laissé Bucky & Black Widow ensemble, là ils se retrouvent comme s’ils s’étaient quittés, alors que James « punit » des collabos à Doom et que Natasha lui impose de l’aider à libérer des innocents d’un centre scientifique maléfique en Russie. Ils forment une équipe improvisée pour agir, et recrutent X-23 et Namor. Ils sauvent des gens ravagés par des expériences, et confrontent le responsable : le Chacal, qui a cloné et déformé… les Illuminati, qui attaquent avec un Black Bolt qui fait de gros dégâts.
C’est moyen, clairement. Sam Humphries lance sans emballer sa série, avec certes des Bucky & Black Widow sympathiques, mais aux dialogues un peu lourds et maladroits. Les recrutements sont basiques, les bagarres aussi, et la menace est un peu nazouille dans la déformation des Illuminati. Avec des dessins corrects de Ton Lima, ce n’est pas brillant.
Un début très moyen, qui fait regretter le départ des auteurs précédents sur Bucky.
SEEING DOUBLE! Deranged duplicates of the Illuminati attack the New Avengers, prompting a surprise visit from Clea Strange! But even with the help of the Sorcerer Supreme of the Dark Dimension, several of the doubles are too powerful to contain. To understand how to stop them, the team needs a genius, one who wasn’t connected to the original Illuminati. But their best candidate is big, green and very, very angry…

Pas brillant et un peu piteux. Sam Humphries gère mollement une bagarre assez chiante, avec Clea qui arrive pour tuer le clone de Black Bolt puis aider les héros qui ne s’en sortent pas. Les clones de Black Panther, Namor, Mr Fantastic et Dr Strange (dont l’énergie a attiré Clea) s’enfuient, et Namor tue le clone de Iron Man qui demande au loin au faux Reed de faire le pire au monde. Après quelques piques entre Namor, X-23 et Clea, ils acceptent de suivre Black Widow et Bucky, et celui-ci va recruter une autre grosse tête avec Clea : Bruce Banner, directement dans le Hulkscape !
Bon, c’est très faible. Ces faux Illuminati sont assez nuls, la bagarre est lourde, et l’ensemble se traîne. Les dessins de Ton Lima sont faibles et ne relèvent rien.
Petit désastre en cours.

But to buy them time to make contact, the rest of the team must survive an all-out onslaught from the INCREDIBLE HULK! Meanwhile, two KILLUMINATI members have joined forces…and they’ve set their sights on the New Thunderbolts!
Un peu mieux, bien mieux même, mais cela reste peu brillant et peu emballant. Sam Humphries nous montre comment le groupe pénètre dans le Hulkspace pour retrouver Bruce Banner (Namor bloque Hulk, Black Widow l’immobilise avec une grosse charge, X-23 est le renfort et s’acharne dessus à son réveil), pour que Clea lui amène Bucky qui veut le recruter. Mais Bruce ne peut pas sortir, et donne une piste sur les Killuminati, mais aussi « déclare » qu’ils sont des Avengers par son ancienneté. Clea les amène tous ensuite au Japon où elle a senti le clone de son mari, Guru Strange, qui profite de la vie et s’échappe, alors que Professor X-Tinction lobotomise des gens. Le groupe croise Eddie Brock / Carnage, sur la piste du tueur, et ils s’allient, avec Laura qui monte un plan pour tuer ce faux Charles Xavier. Et Bucky recrute Eddie contre l’avis de Natasha, mais Namor sent l’appel et le contrôle forcé de son clone, Imperius Rex.
Bon, c’est bien mieux, oui. Le scénario est plus fluide, les personnages sont moins neuneu, la voix-off par Laura est cool, et les rebondissements sont meilleurs. Je ne suis pas passionné par les Killuminati, mais le groupe dysfonctionne comme il faut, avec des planches meilleures de Tom Lima.
C’est mieux, mais ce n’est pas « bien » pour autant.
