L’éditeur Marvel annonce une nouvelle série régulière sur une héroïne féminine. Et pas n’importe laquelle puisqu’il s’agit de la plus grande, de la plus forte, de la plus intelligente d’entre toutes: l’Imbattable Écureuillette !

Cette nouvelle série sur l’héroïne qui peut se targuer d’avoir battu Thanos, Fatalis et même Wolverine (oui, vraiment) a été confiée au scénariste Ryan North (Connu dans nos contrées pour la bande-dessinée Adventure Time) et la dessinatrice Erica Henderson.

Il s’agit aussi de la dixième série solo consacrée à une héroïne après Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow, Elektra, She-Hulk, Storm, Thor, Angela: Asgard’s Assassin et Spider-Woman.
Le premier numéro sortira en janvier avec trois couvertures, dont une illustrée par Art Adams.

Oui, vraiment !

I was actually trying to take on fewer projects recently, but when Wil Moss (my editor on the book) emailed me asking if I had interest to write about Squirrel Girl, I couldn’t say no. She’s such a fun character, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted two things: For, against all odds, there to be a monthly Squirrel Girl book, and for me to be the guy writing it. It’s the thing with ideas – the more you think about them, the more you realize all the cool things you could do, and the more you get into the idea.

And sure, there’s some similarities between Finn and Squirrel Girl! I mean, they’re both awesome people with animal friends. But there’s a huge amount of difference in who these characters are, and I don’t think anybody’s surprised if I say that there’s a lot of distance between the Marvel Universe and the Land of Ooo. They’re both great, in different ways!

Actually shortly after we met and started emailing back and forth, and I asked her if there were things she wanted to draw and didn’t want to draw. Technically she has to draw anything I can imagine (right? right??) but it’s always a better comic if everyone’s doing something they love, and if she, for example, didn’t want to draw boats I’d probably change my planned « Pirate Squirrels Of The Caribbean » arc to be « Air-Pirate Squirrels Of The Sky In An Alternate Universe 1940 Where Zeppelins Are Everywhere » instead.

Luckily, Erica was totally down with drawing both squirrels and girls, so we’re in great shape there. And her art is so great! After seeing how hunky she can draw men, I kinda maybe wrote more hunks into the story. Hunks! Hunks everywhere!
