UNDERTOW #1-6 (Steve Orlando / Artyom Trakhanov)

En février, Le scénariste Steve Orlando et le dessinateur Artyom Trakhanov lanceront « Undertow » chez Image Comics. Il s’agit d’une nouvelle mini-série en six chapitres qui voit le Monde basculer lorsque des pionniers fuyant la cité marine d’Atlantis décident d’envahir la terre ferme à bord du Deliver, un vaisseau appartenant au pirate-scientifique Redum Anshargal.

Si le succès est au rendez-vous, le scénariste déclare avoir créé un univers suffisamment vaste pour être développé via plusieurs autres mini-séries.

J’ai réussi à mettre la main sur le premier Undertow, et je ne suis pas déçu. Déjà, pour ne rien gâcher, il flatte la rétine. Ensuite, c’est un épisode dense qui pose rapidement les enjeux (le rôle de Redum Anshargal, l’opposition entre le pirate et la cité Atlantis), les personnages et le vaisseau (à travers le regard la jeune recrue Unuik), et son univers (le monde de la surface et la cité d’Atlantis). Passé ce postula, le lecteur n’a aucune idée du sens que va prendre cette série au discours résolument écologique.

J’ai eu le même plaisir à découvrir l’univers imaginé par Steve Orlando et Artyom Trakhanov qu’avec les séries Prophet ou Glory. Une série au potentiel infini, intelligente et rafraichissante.
