VAMPIRELLA #1-2 (Christopher Priest / Ergun Gunduz)

En mars 2025, Dynamite relancera à nouveau Vampirella au #1. Le scénariste Christopher Priest reste aux commandes du titre qu’il anime depuis 2019.

Dynamite Entertainment is set to relaunch its flagship Vampirella title in 2025 with an all-new volume from regular writer Christopher Priest and returning artist Ergun Gunduz.

The series will kick off in the pages of Vampirella #1 (legacy number #676) with the ‘The Long Night’ story arc which promises to explores the Daughter of Drakulon’s postpartum depression as well as offering a glimpse at a cyberpunk-infused apocalyptic future.

“I think the best kinds of challenges you can toss at a protagonist are the ones they cannot punch through,” states writer Priest. “There’s way too much boring violence being used to resolve conflict in today’s comics. Good writing involves conflict but conflict isn’t always about violence. You put your character in a headlock, in a no-win scenario, ideally in a mess of their own making, and then follow them as they resolve that conflict through their strength of character. Vampirella’s present situation, her being suddenly confounded by the unimaginable impact of motherhood, is the direct cause and effect of the future story and the reason her son, an adult many decades in the future, has returned to warn her.”

The Long Night will introduce fans to parallel perspectives of the Daughter of Drakulon in the present dealing with a severe case of postpartum depression, even while finally reunited with her previously stolen infant son — and on the other hand a vision into a possible cataclysmic, cyberpunk future brought on by a bitter Vampi’s nuclear holocaust!

The team of Christopher Priest and Ergun Gunduz returns as “The Long Night” begins! Vampirella’s infant son, stolen by her evil twin Draculina, has finally been returned to her. A mysterious figure named Cicero arrives, claiming to be Vampirella’s infant son somehow transported 40+ years back from a dark future wherein Vampirella, consumed by bitterness, has become The Witch of Ashthorne, a ruthless matriarch responsible for a nuclear holocaust.

Having finally rescued her baby from Draculina, Cicero begs Vampirella, for his sake and the sake of the world, to give the infant back.
