Je viens d’acheter les quatre numéros de cette seconde « saison » : un régal !
Les deux premiers épisodes sont comme un double-épisode initial de série TV, pour lancer la grande saga de la saison avec brio. Les deux scénaristes fondent leurs styles pour se rapprocher vraiment de la meilleure période de Moffat et Smith (saison 5/première partie de la saison 6), avec une vraie « voix » du Docteur (en lisant, j’ai la voix de Smith en tête et chaque dialogue sonne comme dans la série).
Mieux encore, l’intrigue elle-même est vraiment bonne, jouant sur un des meilleurs personnages de Moffat (le fameux War Doctor) et sur l’un des meilleurs aspects du Doctor de Smith (ses remords et sa crainte de lui-même, lui qui ne cesse de sourire et de courir partout, essayant d’oublier et de passer au-delà de la blessure psychologique intense et du complexe du survivant du Doctor de Tennant), tout en misant sur des fondamentaux sûrs (Alice, excellente en assistante sympathique mais qui commence à se poser des questions ; Squire en intriguant élément du décor) et en ressuscitant un vieux personnage du passé (Abslom Daak, l’aspect rigolo du comics).
Un double-épisode tonitruant, un épisode intimiste et un autre plus généraliste mais avec une fin qui m’a fait bondir, le tout bien écrit, bien rythmé, très bien dialogué et grandement maîtrisé… et même des dessins très corrects… OK, OK. J’ai trouvé ma série préférée !

Très bonne saga que celle développée par Williams et Spurrier.
Si la première saison avait un fil rouge présent mais des épisodes un peu « autonomes », à la mode des saisons de Russel T Davies, cette seconde saison adopte plus un fonctionnement « à la Moffat », avec une intrigue principale qui s’étend sur tous les numéros, où le Doctor et ses alliés vont un peu partout pour y comprendre quelque chose. Cependant, c’est ici très solide, et détaché de tout le gras des intrigues de Moffat, et les clichés qu’il n’a cessé d’introduire dans ses saisons.
En bref, en utilisant beaucoup de bonnes références, en surfant sur un thème important et présent pour les 10e et 11e Doctors, avec une belle dose de mystères, un bon sens du rythme, un beau casting secondaire, et une narration « à la Moffat » mais bien faite, cette série demeure une lecture très plaisante et entraînante.
